Im sure it can be done.
Tune,Pulley,CAI,Exhaust can get you into the 11's with a ok driver and traction.
Or you can just buy a used Nitrous kit for like 400, add a tune,pulley and DR and that will get you into the 11's.

But yes $1000 will and can get you into the 11's.

Actually you can run 10s for around 900.

I sort of have an arguement going on with some friends. I told them with a 1000 bucks you could do pulley, intake, tune and be good for 11's. am I right??? any body have some minimal mods under 1k and good time slips???

Just yank some weight out of the car and buy a set of slicks, you can run 11's in good air for much less than $1,000.

The cars will trap 114+/- bone stock, that is enough for 11's.

Hell, you can do it for less than that if you hang around the market section! My old setup:

Free 2.8 upper
Free K&N Intake
$200 headers and o/r midpipe (which you don't need, it was just too good of a deal to pass)
$350 for SCT chip and dyno tune
$20 aux idler
$250 Nitto drag radials
TOTAL: $820

Now those prices are mainly from being patient and haveing a couple hook-ups here and there. That setup got me a best of 7.2 @ 97mph. Never ran it in the 1/4, I'm guessing it would have ran mid 11s. New steup is under construction!
