04 cobra vs evo 9

i've been watching alot of videos of evo pulling terminators so i thought when i get a chance to come across someone with a upgraded turbo evo then i'll ask to see if he wanted to do some testing. well i finally got my chance and it was a evo9 with a gt35r turbo claiming 500awhp. going into the race i was thinking that it was gonna pull me.

^^thanks...it has a 3in stainless works full exhaust system X pipe with steggy stage 3, 2.76 pullied, idler, stock under.

No offense but 450 sounds really low for a ported Cobra. Mine was @ 475 with similar mods minus the port.

And there is no way that Evo was making 500 awhp- he would have raped you if that was the case.

Like I said- good wins but the numbers seem a bit off.

having driven around a buddy's 03 EVO VIII with about 300 to the ground on 91 pump gas (350 on e85) no thank you, I'm perfectly satisfied with having stump pulling torque that the EVO doesn't have.. (even though it has plenty of hp, the lack of low end torque is a game killer for me, after having had the Cobra)

TDI logics evo 8 RS here on E85 makes 426awhp and 400awtq.....

on 93 its 360awhp, 360awtq....

i made 450whp at trudyno sports on there mustang dyno. seeing the evo in person with the gt35r running 28psi should be around 500hp imo. but 500awhp is what he claimed.

...a gt35r is an awesome turbo but unfortunately in the wrong hands it wont make the power nor run the times its supposed to.
...it can make anywhere between 360ish awhp all the way up to a notch over 700awhp.
...again the difference is in the tune
im an FP fan so not too much of a garrett fan.
...i am skeptical of his 500 hp claim though...is that supposed to be at the wheels or at the motor?
..alotta people probably scratching their heads going huh? whats wrong with that evo? there's nothing wrong with it...its just not making the power he says its making...

the lack of low end torque on the EVO's was partially cured by an improved, faster spooling turbo and the addition of mivec. huge improvement over the VIII's.
not as much torque as a modular motor.....but evos get killer launches thanx to awd. no need to bolt up drag radials.....

Great for launches but then you have to carry it at higher speeds..guess you can't have it both ways..

I'm not saying this to be a dick but there might be something wrong with your car- I'd have an experienced Ford/SVT specialist give your car a thorough once over (like Amazon- which is just down the road from you btw)... with your mods and a GOOD tune you should be at least 500rwhp- even on a Mustang Dyno. I hope I'm wrong here- but there are MANY non-ported Cobra's making more RWHP than you.

Like some of the Evo guys said- the guy you raced is lying- no way was he making 500 awhp..... or you came across the worst Evo driver in history. More whp+ lighter car = loss for you. I'd call bs on him and make him show you a dyno sheet.
