Yesterday I took the 2.5 hour trip down to Mason Dixon Dragway to get some runs in with the 07'. Not many GT500 folks push the factory Eaton supercharger, as planting a TVS or twinscrew under the hood is the more typical choice. Wanted to take the road less traveled and see if I could get a modest Eaton setup into the 10's at the strip. After getting in 17 runs over 4 years, (with 7 of them being aborted due to missed gears with the factory shifter!), finally hit the goal. Got in two runs:

1) 10.937 @ 126.92 w/ 1.658 60'
2) 10.963 @ 125.75 w/ 1.575 60'

Unfortunately, pissed away a decent 60 foot and a shot at a 10.8 on the second run with having to deal with some squirreliness in 2nd gear.

Basic Setup:
Posi Ported Eaton w/2.40" upper pulley (14.5 lbs of boost)
VMP 67mm TB w/ LM Plenum
JLT 123 CAI
3.73 Gears
J & M LCA, Roush UCA
MGW II shifter (of course!)
MRT Catless H Pipe
MT 15 x 28" Slicks, M & H Skinnies

Notes:
- No long tubes, no lower pulley, no injectors/BAP, minimal suspension mods, and modest weight reduction, (for me at least....will outline in another thread). Just don't have to break the bank to get decent performance.
- Slicks are obviously big here. High torque, poor basic front > rear weight distribution, often require more non-bias launching skill. Plus slicks absorb more of the shock at launch. Less breakage.
- Only 20 guys have hit 10's with the Eaton according to my research. 81 Terminator guys have done it. My experiences would actually suggest that it's a bit easier/less expensive with the GT500.
- The IRS is a challenge with hard launching with the Terminators. The shifter/transmission on the GT500 can be a nightmare.
- The GT500 M122 is bigger and more efficient than the 03/04's M112. Obviously..... But have a much harder time keeping the M122 cool than the M112.

Damn fine runs @IronTerp!!! What tire pressures where you running on your slicks? Ive got the Hoosier stiffwall slicks as recommended by Hoosier. 28x10.5L15 with skinny fronts.

Are you on the factory clutch?

I need to get my trans pulled and fixed before I head to the track again. Ive got the hybrid Tremec TR6060 synchro rings 1-4 ready to go along with new 1-2 synchro, new 2nd gear and 1-2 shift fork along with new bearings and bronze shift pads. I may pony up for the 3-4 synchro and just be done with 1-4.

Last time out I had horrible 60fts, due to me as a driver. I was trapping about 120 mph, so I know the speed is there.

Any launching tips you can give us M122 users?

Thanks fellas. DA was 291 for the first run and 451 for the second. East coast March days can certainly help.

Had 16.5 lbs of air in slicks. Four of my last 6 runs have been in the 1.5's at this PSI. Running an RXT. Ran into the factory problem with the 07-09' flywheel, clutch, transmission, and attacked the flywheel/clutch first. Was better, but the shifter cured it.

Have tried several launch techniques utilizing RPM's from 2,500 to 5,000. For my setup, appears that a 3,800 medium clutch release/throttle depress works well.

Of the 19 previous fellas that have hit 10's with the Eaton, only two did it with upper pulley only setups. Another goal was to be the 3rd.

Once i read stock lower, I figured you were one of the VERY few who were able to pull it off... awesome work for sure.

Congrats. That's some great driving to get that. There are still some of us that have a TVS and still haven't gotten that elusive 10 second run. 11.01 was so close yet so far away. Car has it, but the driver has been very suspect lol.

You didn't even upgrade to an 08+ lower? That's even more impressive with the stock anchor.

Nice runs, Dwight. Your '07 is picking right up where your '03 was. ;)

Very first mod I made was upgrading to 08' balancer. Sorry if that was misleading. Needed that 11.4 lb of weight saving off the front end!

Thanks Bob! Taking a totally different approach here. Keeping suspension, exhaust, and cruising ability to a level that my wife won't threaten to divorce me!

Thanks BJ. Has been an educational journey. Thanks for your help along the way.

MD03SVT did have the record until 2 years ago when Jason Miller, whose family owns MIR Dragway, decided to get into the mix with an automatic. MD03SVT still has the 6 speed record, although Sylvain almost got him before he went TVS.
