I have 1200 on my HPWwSD, '13GT500. At about 1000, beginning a normal take-off in 1st, POP! Terrible gear separation POP sound as the shift lever snaped back to neutral!

I was stunned. Did I not have it completely in 1st? That's what I decided. From now in I'll be more careful.

SAME THING AT 1200! Anyone else? What gives? It must be me, because I love this beast. Can it go wrong?

No popping, grinding or anything on mine. All good on this one. Let's hope it's not an issue and like you said, you just didn't have it in gear all the way.

sounds to me like it was not all the way in gear before you popped the clutch. if its not in, it will kit it out pretty violently.

Been there done that. When I had my twin disk McCleod installed in my 04 cobra, it took a long time for me getting used to the clutch releasing at top. And if you don't do it at the right RPMs and smooth transition from clutch to gas, it is going to buck wildly.

May not have been in gear all the way, and you will know for sure if you have the 1-2 grind when it happens. I have it but only if I shift fast from 1st to 2nd and the easy fix is to just shift slower.
