You can make all the batteries you want
They can be super cheap because they are made here.
But without the infrastructure to charge them, it is meaningless.
How much would it cost to have a quick charger in every house in the USA?
How would you generate the electricity to power all of those quick chargers?
It may seem like a great thing, this massive deposit, and it is.
Because it could easily remove Foreign Countries from having influence on our Green Energy policies (as foolish as that policy is)
It would shake up the Geo Political world map, which could be very good.
It is said that this could result in the next "1840's California Gold Rush"
That could cause massive growth in Business and employment.
But it is a Canard.
A short term gain for a coming massive contraction in employment and business when the EV lie is exposed for what it ultimately is.

As with all the 5000 news articles talking about lithium discovers, please remember, lithium is very common, discovering it is easy, there is plenty around and plenty of known location.
However lithium operates more like a advanced chemical then a base metal. Each mine lithium mine is different and has to be separately qualified for each battery manufactures/car company.
There are very, very few companies who have actually managed to produce battery grade lithium and many, many company who have been struggling for years to achieve it.
We simply don't have a lithium problem, what is lacking is the expertise to actually bring deposits like this to use.

Considering that GM made a $650 million dollar equity investment into the company (Jan of 2023) that hold the mineral rights for exclusive right to "phase one" product from the mining is telling in their belief that it is legit. Mining is expected to start around the first of 2026.

Also of note, the 9th Circuit Court struck down a restraining order brought by Native American Tribes claiming the land is Sacred. Turns out the US Government had already given approval for mining of the land previously. Lest we forget that those same Indian Tribes had sold the mining rights.

Instead of using it all on batteries, it really would be much better spent by shipping a pound of bite size (Rx dose) pellets to all the interweb influencers (especially Tiktok) and creating a new "challenge."
