Has anyone done it? If so, any feedback and pros/cons in performance?
That's like comparing ice skates to roller skates.
Correctly, the stock GYs are ONLY decent on a HOT track, terrible on the street.I disagree they're hard to compare. Different cars, absolutely. But the 13-14 500 out of the box is very capable on a road course if driven well. And the stock Goodyears on the 500 also perform well on the track with some heat. These cars have very different strengths, and I assume a 350 will be more confidence inspiring and easier to get around a track fast, but I would not dismiss the 500 as a car that can't be compared to the 350 on a racetrack. I hope I get the opportunity to really get after it in a 350 on track someday so I can make my own comparison. I'm certainly curious.
Completely different cars. Plus stock GT500s are a poor example, so easy to upgrade, even a tire change makes them worlds better. If the GT500 had the 350s 295/305 or 305/315 rubber the GT500 would be much better.
Either way, I own a '14 and plan to own a 350R but keeping the '14.

The only place a the GT500 would beat the GT350 is at the drag strip. Pretty much everywhere else, the GT350 is will outperform the GT500. Quality, comfort, capability, amount of car for the money (not just HP), etc. I personally don't think you can compare the two fairly because just about every test would be in the GT350's favor. Just my opinion having dealt with both cars.
Agreed, the GT500 would only win in stock straight line performance. Having owned multiple S197s and now a S550 I find the S550 platform to be superior. Unless you're hung up on the Shelby name and warrantied stock performance, a 16 GT with a Whipple is probably the best buy out of any of them right now until GT350 pricing comes back down to earth.

I'm the last person that you would ever find to be hung up on a name, but the GT350 is a TON of car for the money. If you can buy one at MSRP, it's a steal IMO. I don't think just buying a GT and throwing a blower on it would get you anything like the GT350's all around performance. Maybe you can compare the GT with a blower to the GT500 and I would still take a blown GT over a GT500, but the GT350, IMO, is still way more car.
