I've got a family member who picked up a 1999 Black L with only 4500 miles! He said he would sell it to me for $34K which is 2K over what he paid. Sounds about right in price range but was wondering if there is anything in particular I need to look at? I've heard some say you don't want a car in storage and not driven because maybe some seals, tires and gas lines may be damaged. Any suggestions welcome.

I'd say that's about tops what a 99 is worth.
sitting is hard on things, anything rubber will tend to rot.
if you want a Lightning you intend to actually drive I'd save my money and buy something with more miles.

You cant drive that. You need to replace a ton of things if you want to daily it. If you want to keep a garage queen, that's up there in price for a 99. I would pay that for a 04 Sonic blue, DSG or 02 True blue one. If you do decide to buy it, make sure the intercooler recall was done. If it hasn't, you're going to need to source an intercooler and midplate from an 01-04
