Hey everybody,

Not a regular poster here, but need some advice now, and I hope you can help me out.

I have gone through 2 warranty replaced rear ends, and two half shafts, one I replaced, one the factory replaced with one of the rear ends. Well, last night, I was chewing up rice mobiles, at the NOPI event here in Atlanta. Had fun doing it, but, on one run, for some reason, I got bad wheel hop.....Normally, I have learned how to not do that, but it happened.

SO!!!

I want to go to a straight axle setup, as I am tired of the IRS BS.

Please give me some suggestions on what I should buy, and any ideas roughly what I can expect to shell out. I am stupind when it comes to rear ends.

My setup is pretty average, not a ton of power, but I do have a strong motor, and my mods have dynoed recently around 450 hp at the rear.

Thanks for the input ahead of time, and I am sure I will have more ???

Doh!!

I have posted so irregularly, that I didn't look at the signature I made up.

Since then I have been 2.93 pulley with a tune of course. Previous posts which I assume have been deleted had Dyno sheets attached. I also done some front end suspension work.

It was a good catch though, just should have updated the signature.

Thanks 4sdvenom for the awesome information in your post. I plan on calling tomorrow to ask some info. I had a figure in my head around 3K for the changeout, so that price if it is still good isn't to bad.

Thanks for the replies everyone, now I just need to get it done.

Another option is to find someone with a 99+ GT (or Mach) that wants to swap. That will get you the basic setup for basically the price of labor (assuming you don't do it yourself) and you can add the upgrades at your leisure.

I'm seriously considering a live axle swap this winter. My setup would look like this:

2002 GT Rear (no cost swap)
Detriot Truetrac (~$400)
31 Spline Moser or Strange Axles (~$300)
X2C Boxer ST upper and lower control arms (~$170)
Air bags (~$70)
3.90 or 4.10 gear (~$180)
Install gears/diff/axles ~$200
Install control arms ~$150

I don't care for the harsh stuff, and I've had great success with the same basic suspension setup on my 99 Cobra.

I agree with Bob. Find somone with a 99+ GT that is willing to swap with you. Thats what i did, all i needed to do was buy a catback because the catback i would have gotten off of the GT i didnt like. The rear i have for now is stock with 3.73s and Eibach lowering springs

I will be building it up very soon with
31 Spline Moser or Strange axles
Detroit Trutrac diff
Rear Girdle
Weight jacker lower control arms
and havent decided on a UCA yet

No more hop for me, and i saved a ton of weight
