The world seems to be falling apart in front of our eyes. With the current administration making decisions that go from bad to worse; and the country being divided to the extreme of polar opposites. Even with everything going on in the world today, today marks the 20 anniversary of what happened in New York City and the rest of the country. Today is a day of remembrance for those we lost that day. Probably the only positive thing that resulted from that day was, for a time, the country was United. We were Americans, and for a time, we weren’t consumed with our petty differences. Hopefully, not by a similar cause, but a similar unity like what we had is what will help us in today’s world. We need it.
I was seven years old on that day and I remember it like it was yesterday. School in a way stopped, as everyone was focused on what was happening to the World Trade Centers. After the first tower fell our headmaster called all grades and staff to the gym. You could see the fear on the faces of the teachers. Something to this magnitude hasn’t happened since Pearl Harbor. We prayed for those in New York. For a while there wasn’t anything else on the news stations. At that time I was really into WWE wrestling and the next airing, two days after what happened, everyone was chanting USA during Mr. McMahon’s address. We were United.
We were proud of our country and our people. We mourned the loss of those that died that day, but our spirit wasn’t broken. In fact, it may have been stronger than ever. Since WWII. We made a memorial and built another tower where the twins stood. We will never forgive those responsible. We will never forget those we lost. May they Rest In Peace. This is their day.
Pick your poison.
