Heres an copy of a generic piston...when it says bore are they talking about the bore of the cylinder or is it the diameter of the piston. From that how would you know what size of rings youd get if 1.030 is the bore of the cylinder?

They're talking about cylinder bore size. You would get rings to match the piston. IE, if you order a piston for a 4.030" bore then you would order rings that are 4.030". There's other factors that come into play such as groove size. Generally when you order pistons you can get a ring set included. That's how I did it when I ordered the pistons.
