This ad will be a work in progress due to the length of ownership and modification list. Pictures and update will be added over the next week. Thanks for looking!
Price is $30K/FIRM. NO TRADES. Please don’t comment about the price or what you think it’s worth. The price is whatever someone pays. Still with me, then please, read on.
This car will require a new tune and a fresh set of rear tires prior to being driven. Other than these two items, this car is ready to rock.
Car is currently unregistered and will not pass smog. Based on the previous statement, I’m looking for buyers that live in a less restrictive emissions area/state or plan to register as a non op… at least during our transaction.
WARNING: this post will include frequent sarcasm. Sarcasm helps me to deal with loss.
Up for sale (I’m starting to get wet in the eyes already) is my baby… my pimp… my owner… if you’re the kind of guy or gal who gets this, read on…. If not, this car isn’t interested in you.
This is a one owner Silver Twin Turbo 2004 Cobra SVT Coupe with Dark Charcoal Interior with 19K+ miles (I’ll post exact miles when I record the latest). This is an accident free vehicle that has been babied her entire life and has only the best in parts. Her name is Bullet and she likes the name… please don’t change it.
How fast is she?
She made 963 RWHP at 24 PSI on VP 109 at sea level on a Dynojet at Racer’s Edge Tuning in Downey CA. This bitch is fast… no, really fast. This car will never be the fastest, best looking cleanest or all-around coolest car… but it’s a thrill ride that will shove you in the back of your seat and you’ll surely forget your troubles. Passengers may piss themselves…. Lay down plastic.
She ran 9.6 at 149 on slicks and race gas. As a twin turbo car (she made a few trips to the track prior to Twin Snails) she made a total of 4 passes at Sacramento Raceway. The first 3 were half passes, letting off the throttle after 1/3 way down the track to feel out the launch. The 4th was a sloppy pass with a 1.5 sixty foot on 20 PSI and ran a 9.6 quarter mile time. Afterwards, the track official (also one of my friends) asked me to refrain from any additional runs until a full cage was installed… sometimes it helps to have friends in low places. This car can go 8's with an experienced driver and the correct safety devices (full cage, suit, etc.). While this is possible, that’s not what I built her for. I wanted to build a car that could drive like a mild-mannered street car but floor the accelerator pedal at 75 and hit the 9 o’clock position… then hold that down the highway leaving trails of fire and rubber with my signature stained in the asphalt. Then I grew up and just wanted a fun car to cruise, occasional high-speed runs, carve the corners of La Honda/Skyline, and stare at in the garage. This car has never been a track slut which was heavily used and abused!
Why would I sell???
Life happened and I married, had 2 kids, dogs, rock garden, etc.… then my car sat… and sat… and sat. It’s been occasionally driven the past few years, but not the way she should. She’s like that lonely tiger at the zoo who’s caged and ready to eat the stupid zoo keeper. She wants out.
I don’t need to sell her, I’m not in dire need for quick cash, and Frankly speaking, I don’t want to sell her. My decision to sell is based on the following:
· I simply don’t have the time to enjoy the car the way it should be, and my family and work obligations aren’t going away anytime soon. I’d like to see the car driven and enjoyed by someone who will take care of the car.
· I live in California… you know, where they’re trying to convert everyone to socialism, trying to take our guns, cigars, meat and everything else that’s enjoyable and destructive. I know, I know, leave then… what can I say, I like the weather. The smog laws have become exhausting and I’m frankly tired of trying to skirt around problem. The car was registered in Utah for awhile and now the registration isn’t current…. Don’t worry, the title is
The price is firm at $30K. Firm means you pay $30k, we confirm at the bank, then you take the car with the title… plus a bunch of extra parts (if you want them). I don’t care if you flew in from New York and only have $29,999.99. $30K means $30K and firm means firm. This car has so much money dumped in it that the buyer I’m looking for will see the killer deal this is… No trades…. Unless it’s green and can be cashed at a Wells Fargo Bank. Teenagers and assholes need not apply… you know who you are.
ZERO JOYRIDES. This car is untuned (I’ll get into this later), and so I’ll be unable to provide you the neck snapping experience that could put us in jail. I’ll be providing leak down and compression results. I work for a car manufacturer in a Technical Position and am ASE Certified as part of my profession, so they’ll be accurate.
What’s modified (I should really post what isn’t modified as the list is short)?
Now for the parts/mod list… I’ll include what I can remember and will update as I have time, but here’s a go:
Engine built by Heath Besner (amazing builder and an even better friend) at Premier Performance in West Jordan Utah
Engine was built sometime around 16,000 miles in preparation for the turbo upgrades. There was nothing wrong with the original shortblock (all engine rotating parts were sold to another cobra owner). Vehicle has the original Ford iron block.
· Royal Purple 5w30 with Ford Motorcraft Filter for the life of the vehicle – I change the oil so frequently on this car that the oil always looks brand new. During the past 7-8 years the car has been used less and less frequent which means it’s not uncommon for me to change the oil every time I start the car up to go on a short drive… usually less than 100 miles. Call it overkill, but oil is the life blood for any engine
· Oil filter relocation kit for easy oil changes and no mess on the turbo piping
· Kellog crank
· Billet Oliver rods
· CP pistons 21 cc dish
· CP rings
· Federal Mogul Race Bearings (tri metal)
· ARP main studs
· ARP head bolts
· Ford head gaskets
· Canton windage tray
· Moroso street strip oil pan
· Modular Mustang Racing Oil pump
· SFI approved damper
· Coolant Crossover Mod
· Poly motor mounts
· March Polished Pulleys
· Polished Sullivan intake manifold w/1-inch spacer – Hood notched for clearance and no contact
· Polished valve covers
· Cylinder Heads and Cams are stock except for new valve seals and APR Bolts
Power adder:
Twin Turbo kit started as a Turbo Horsepower kit about 13 years ago. Since that time, the only remaining hot side components from the Turbo Horsepower kit the headers. The rest was redone by Racer’s Edge Tuning in Downey CA. They upgraded the following:
· (2) Polished Precision PT5558 Billet Wheel Turbos w/3” V band outlet, ported housings V band inlet
· 44mm Tial Wastegates
· Tial Blow-Off Valves
· Upgraded/larger intercooler
· Stainless Steel piping
· (2) T3 Turbo Inlets
· Converted to V Band Clamps
· Downpipes converted from 2.5” to 3” exhaust piping. This took significant time ($$$) to make these customer welded downpipes fit, but the gains were significant (well over 150rwhp) throughout the entire power band.
· All cold side tubing was powder coated silver
· Turbo’s sent back to Precision Turbo to have the housings Ceramically coated
· Hot side tubing was heat wrapped
· Custom 3” exhaust with oval tubing for additional ground clearance and turn downs in front of the axles
· Magnaflow Mufflers
Cooling:
· A/C operates and keeps you feeling as cool as you look!
· Royal Purple Ice – Coolant additive
· 90% Distilled Water – Don’t need a high coolant additive here in the Bay Area. I Definitely recommend changing this out to a more typical 50/50 ratio if you live in a harsher environment. For its life in California (I changed to 90/10 when I moved out of Utah), it runs nice and cool!
· Edelbrock Water pump
· LDC Cooling Mod
· 170 Degree Reische Performance Thermostat
· ARP Fitting Coolant Plug with bleeder screw
Return Style Fuel System
· (Uninstalled) Brand New ID1000 Injectors – This and the Glen’s Performance Fuel Tank Add-ons are the reason for the car being untuned. After these upgrades, the car needed to be retuned and just haven’t gotten around to it
· 75 lbs. injectors – used to make the 963 rwhp
· -10 Russell braided feed line
· -8 Russell braided return line
· Glen’s Performance Mustang SVT Cobra Sumped Fuel Tank
· Glen’s Performance Mustang Black Fuel Tank Cover
· Glen’s Performance Mustang Stainless Fuel Tank Straps
· Fore twin pump fuel hat
· Aeromotive Fuel Pressure Regulator
Electrical:
Again, this vehicle needs a fresh tune following the installation of the new sumped fuel tank.
· SCT Flash Tuner
· HPX Slot Style MAF (this significantly improved idle quality and how the car ran when tuned)
· MAF Pigtail Harness
· Turbosmart E-Boost Controller
· E-Boost setup with manual boost switch on the shifter assembly that allows selecting between boost pressures at the press of a button while driving. For example, I would normally start with a boost pressure of 8-9 psi in first and second gear (still enough to fry the tires if I wanted to/modulate the accelerator pedal), press the button to up to 12-13 psi in 3rd, press the button again near the end of 3rd or 4th (depending on speed and traction) for a total of 16 psi and then press the button at any other gear for 19-20 psi. All these boost pressures can be configured to your liking within the E-Boost settings. This was the best mod I made once the power levels went through the roof with the 3” downpipes and the new turbos.
· Innovate MTX-D Digital Fuel Pressure Gauge
· Innovate MTX-D Digital A/F Gauge w/Bosch LSU O2 Sensor
· SPA Dual Gauge Oil Pressure/Water Temp Gauge - This thing cost over $300 but is so much better that the low quality Autometer gauges I’ve run in the past
· Speed of Sound Gauge Pod
· 200 Amp Alternator Kit with Upgraded Wiring
· Wired all accessories into fusible boxes below the dash. This can greatly assist with any potential problems with specific accessories in the future
· Rear trunk mounted battery w/Genius Battery Tender
· (Uninstalled) WOT Box
Driveline:
· Stock T56 Transmission w/upgraded 26 spline Input Shaft
· Custom made aluminum driveshaft to accommodate the Panhard bar/torque arm
· Pro 5.0 Shifter Assembly w/Cobra Bob Shifter Gasket
· Speed Dawg Shifter Knob with button (button used to change/select boost level while driving)
· McCloud Twin Disk Clutch – I love this clutch… Softer than stock and held a 9.6 pass with no effort
· Flywheel is a Spec SFI spec steel
· 8.8 rear end
· Ford Motorsport 3:27 Gears
· Ford Racing Differential Cover
· Eaton Posi
· Driveshaft Safety Loop
· Mosier 31 spline axles w/clip eliminator
· Royal Purple Differential Oil
· Differential is clean and free of leaks
Suspension/Chassis Bracing
I ditched the IRS within a few years and went with a 3-link setup. I had a similar 3 -link on my previous fox body and love everything about how the car drives. It does decent at the track (remember those 9.6 times, it was with this suspension setup mostly for the street and corner carving) and incredible in the curves. It rides rougher (although not that much rougher) than the IRS but makes the car more predictable (especially over uneven road surfaces, easier to drive, and a corner carver you can also take to the track for the weekend racer.
· Maximum Motorsports (MM) Coil Overs w/Bilstein’s
· Hypercoil Front Springs (350 lbs.)
· Hypercoil Rear Springs (225 lbs.)
· MM Caster Camber Plates
· MM Bump steer Kit
· MM Panhard Bar
· MM Torque Arm
· MM Extreme Duty Lower Control Arms
· MM Full Length Subframe connectors
· Welded and reinforced torque boxes
· QA1 K-member (utilized as part of the Turbo Horsepower kit)
· QA1 Tubular A-Arms
· (Uninstalled) Wolfe Racecraft 6 Point/notched Roll Cage with door swingouts – I had this cage powder coated charcoal to match the interior and just hadn’t gotten around to installing. This will go with the car/new owner
Brakes:
Front:
· Brembo 4 piston Calipers
· Hawk Performance Street Pads (Ferro Carbon, HPS) – Brand new and just installed – not yet bedded
· 13” Stop Tech Slotted Rotors – Brand new and just installed – not yet bedded
· Brembo Braided Brake Lines
· Motul 600 brake Fluid
· SLP Brake Control Kit – For easier standing burnouts we all love so much
Rear:
· Stock Calipers
· Hawk Performance Street Pads – Brand new and just installed – not yet bedded
· 13” Stop Tech Slotted Rotors – Brand new and just installed – not yet bedded
· MM Braided Brake Lines
Wheels/Tires:
The front tires are near new condition (still have stubbies), but the rears have damage to the sidewalls that will require replacement. The damage occurred when moving to the CCWs and having unrolled fenders. I had the fenders professionally rolled but the tires will require replacement due to the cutting on the tire sidewall.
· Polished CCW Classics with 18x9.5 and 18x11
· I'll have to update the tire information next time I'm at the house.
· (2) Weld 15x10 drag wheels with MT Slicks (Included with vehicle)
Sound system:
I currently have an alpine head unit installed but no working system. The stock system was ditched in preparation of the 6 point cage and music (other than the twin turbo V8) was never a priority to me.
Exterior/Interior Body Modifications:
She has been garaged/covered and protected with Zaino products during her entire life. This includes Dawn to strip any old wax, clay bar, wax/buff and polish. This paint has never been cut and the paint thickness is the same as the day it left the plant.
As far as the exterior, she’s fairly stock. I kept her that way because I absolutely loved the overall line of the body from day one. In my opinion, she’s one of the most beautiful cars I’ve ever seen. When I saw this brand new on the lot, this Cobra had chrome Cobra wheels installed. During the buying process, I asked that they swap the wheels for another Cobra on the lot with the brushed metal wheels. I loved this combo so much I kept it this way for almost 10 years. I know, I know… who gives a rat’s ass… I do, it’s my ad and feel the need to share.
There are a few minor blemishes on the body (slight scuffing on top of the rear bumper in front of the trunk. There are a couple light rock chips on the front bumper which have been touched up with Genuine Ford silver paint. There is small dent on the top of the passenger fender (can be easily fixed via dent repair) and there might be a few minor paint flaws. I wanted to present as much as I remember to be honest and upfront. That all said, other than these small imperfections (which I'm knit picking), this paint looks incredible. The original paint gets frequent compliments and is a head turner.
As I said, I'll continue to update this posting with new pictures, modification updates and anything else that pops in my head.
Thanks for taking the time to read this long winded posting... imagine my wife, she's had to deal with me for 20 years.
Stay safe.
