So I have a line on a high mileage (200K) Yukon that I'm talking with the owner on. Car enthusiast that has a good job and maintains his vehicles. Lives in the rust belt but has no rust. I've been looking for a higher mileage black Yukon Denali for a while now that's been properly maintained but was really trying to stick around 130K honestly.

Almost all the trucks I see don't really seem to be hitting that well maintained bell that this truck is. A lot of them I write off immediately if I see

  • Chrome door handles
  • Chrome trunk handles
  • Non-factory rims
  • Non-factory lights
  • Aftermarket stereo

This one seems to be a bone stock survivor, but I'm really getting sketched out about just how high the mileage is. I guess on the one hand I'm not too worried since I'm driving it into the ground. I've always wanted one of these trucks and wouldn't mind rebuilding or throwing a 4L80E in it down the road.

From what I understand these trucks go to 400K properly maintained.

Let me know your thoughts.

How much do you want to spend? I have an 07' Denali in black with only 70,000 miles. And it's in very good condition. Fully loaded including rear DVD.

I'm looking for the previous gen. I can assure you the fact that I'm looking at 200K mile trucks we're miles apart

What does chrome door or trunk handles have to do with whether a vehicle has been well kept or not?

GM fullsize trucks are bullet proof man.

I see them regularly in the 200-300k range with out a hint of major problems.

I said the 200k mile Yukon. I'm assuming a lot of what could or has gone wrong has already been fixed. Maybe expect a new tranny, but the engine and other components are probably either already replaced or can be assumed to need replacing normal wear and tear items.

I think you should expect repairs though.

The type of owner that installs chinsy mods is usually not the same person that meticulously maintains their vehicle. A bone stock vehicle shows me it was owned by a family that took care of it. Chrome door handles tell me Vinny owned it and they did doughnuts in it drunk after the club.

haha. Spending like 4 grand?

You can't even get salvage title trucks in good shape for that much :lol1: I wish though. Looking to spend between $6500 and $10,000. You can find 90-110K mile trucks in great shape for $9-10K but they're super super rare.

You can find more than a few really nice trucks in the $6500-7500K range but they're obviously not as nice.

I've been looking for that $9500 perfect truck but baring unusual circumstances people don't sell their trucks if they're that well maintained.

I feel like I'm under the gun at this point. I've got a 2nd kid coming in February and a GMC Syclone is no longer acceptable! Not to mention my civic is CLAPPED THE **** OUT.

There are 2 fullsize Yukon's at a dealer local to me. One is 14 and the other is 12. Just barely over 100k.

I've been looking for a tahoe or something for a daily for awhile.

Very nice looking truck considering the mileage. Ever thought about Tahoe's?

Yeah but always had a sweet spot in my heart for the Denali. Just love the styling. I'm a fan of the Z71 but I feel like I'd always be regretting not getting the Denali I always wanted.

I do really like the new Tahoes, but they're going for twice as much. I'll probably drop this one on 22s and when the trans goes put in a 4L80E. When I lose the motor I'll throw in a boost ready short block.

I will drive this truck until it is impossible not to drive it anymore within reason. The thing I'm most worried about is the undercarriage rusting out. But I think I'll have till at least 350K for that if I'm diligent in making sure the truck gets washed instead of staying salted up.

I think from that response you've already decided. If replacing tranny or engine is all possible and no big deal, and you can't live without it go for it.
