2011 SVT Superfest/SAAC 36 – May 27-29, 2011 – Virginia International Raceway, Danville, VA

The SCMC and SVTOA (SVT Clubs) announce their second annual “SVT Superfest” to be held at the world class facility of Virginia International Raceway. Like last year, the Superfest will have three days of on track but this year we’ve added a little twist as we have the Shelby American Automobile Club (SAAC) joining us for an all out high powered, adrenaline pumping, show stomping event. The event kicks off on Thursday with registration for the three days on the “Grand Course” at VIR. That’s right! We’ll have the 4.2 mile configuration “Grand Course” for three days so you can expect the driving experience will be a blast! You can drive wide open at over 120 mph on the front stretch, and then a left, right, up and down the uphill and declining esses. No road course can give you so much fun and challenge all at the same time as the “Grand Course” at VIR. Never been on the track before but want to join in on the fun? You’re in luck as we will have a beginner class with instructors available and classroom sessions to help you get into the hobby and learn how to drive your high powered SVT, Shelby, and Ford.

After a long day at the track on Friday, we have a “meet and greet” set up for all three clubs and anyone else who wants to be a part of the Superfest to socialize with SVT and Shelby owners at the track. For car show aficionados, we have three car shows over the weekend. Yep, you read it right, three car shows over the weekend. The first two will be on Saturday with the SVT Clubs putting on their annual “SVT, Shelby, Mustang, and Ford Show” to be held at the skid pad. This is a judged show so you will be competing among the finest Mustangs and Fords on the east coast. The skid pad is the same location for the show as last year so we’ll have plenty of space available for over 300 cars. While this show is going on, you can also enter the “Shelby concourse” show but of course you’ll have to own an original Shelby to enter.  Next is the Sunday “popular vote” show to be held at the skid pad location and this is open to all Mustangs and Fords and is put on by SAAC. That means you can show your car on Saturday and Sunday and enter the competition for both days. While all of this is going on, you’ll be located in a prime area to watch the action on track. The skid pad area allows viewing of turns 5 and 6 where you’ll hear the screeching of the tires and the roar of open exhaust as high performance Fords round the turns in a full throttle blast.

Now, if that is not enough for you to see then you’ll get to witness classic Shelby Mustangs, Tigers, and Ford GT’s running in the historic races where these cars will be running wheel to wheel for an exhibition you will not want to miss. Meet the drivers of the cars, see them in action, and cheer for the one you like best as they will be running practice sessions all weekend long and a final victory exhibition race on Sunday to see who is the Historic Race Champion.

All of this excitement will want to make you take a break and you’ll get that opportunity on Saturday night at the two banquets. The SVT banquet will be held at the track (250 guest limit) with guest speaker Lee Holman of Holman/Moody. The SAAC banquet will be held off site so it can accommodate a larger audience.

Having SCMC, SVTOA, and SAAC all in one location on Memorial Day weekend will allow you to witness a weekend that you will never want to forget. Three clubs, one location means it will truly be a Superfest!

Catch a ride in a 2012 Boss 302!

Hear the thunder, feel the power, experience the g force as you get to ride in a 2012 Boss 302 Mustang. Hold on to dear life as some of Ford's engineers take you around the track for an all out adrenaline rush.

Ford Motor Company will be bringing 2 to 3 new Boss 302 Mustangs to the 2011 SVT Superfest/SAAC 36 event and you'll be able to ride in one over the weekend. Also scheduled to be in attendance in a 2012 Shelby Mustang so if the Boss isn't enough for you, maybe the Shelby will be?

Like last year, we are asking for a small donation for one of Ford's charities, the Susan G Komen Foundation. All monetary donations over the weekend will be donated to this charity.

Catch a ride, give a little, and help find a cure for breast cancer. It's a win, win, win situation for everyone!

We may ride up Sunday and bring the Cobras. Will there be a place for us to park? maybe in or around the show? I just don't want to take the cars all the way up there and have to park in a cow pasture or mud whole. We are not going to do any racing either, just going to watch, if that matters.

thank you!

I might actually make it to spectate this year! The last couple of years I had to miss it. What's worse, it's only a 25 min drive from my house!
