So I've recently sold my fox body mustang and ordered a 13 f150 fx4 with a 5.0. My question is what's the difference between the 13 mustang 5.0 and the 13 f150 5.0 motor? Is it de-tuned or does it has different heads/intake that makes it have less hp.

IIRC, the cams and tune are different. Obviously intake/exhaust are also.

Compression is also lower than the Mustang 5.0 by one full point.

Actually the 2013 Mustang GT engine is 11:1
The F150 5.0 is 10.5:1

Above is correct about the cams/tune, in the F150 for obvious reasons, this will be geared more towards making lower-end RPM torque than a mustang would be.

Theoretically, you could tune the truck to make near the same power, raise the rev-limit..etc but the truck won't breathe as well on the top end, power will plateau sooner RPM wise.

Congrats. I have a 13' FX2 with the 5.0 and love it. Only thing I would change in mine is I wish I had 3.73's.

I have a 13 F150 5.0 XLT 373 e-locker. the truck 5.0 has a different intake manifold. intake cam is different, compression, iron exhaust manifolds. I feel as if the truck 5.0 just doesn't have the really low torque like the 5.4l 3v did at a much lower RPM, I do know that the 5.0 numbers are higher than what ford states, I've been in a F150 with 355 gears and there is a big difference in the low end between gearing selection and for towing the 373 is the best option for the truck.
