The Z/28 did the lap in 1:37

Back in 2011 the 2011 Z06 with the Z07 package did it in 1:34 and the Boss 302 LS ran the lap in 1:44 and in 2013 the ZR1 ran in the lap in 1:33.

All laps were done with Randy Pobst behind the wheel.

They just released the results and the Z/28 is the winner. Also they explain why some cars are missing from the field.

^ The 1:44 was probably a regular Boss.
A Boss LS has clocked 1:39.50.

I only know this because i posted it in C5 forums. GM raised the bar with the Z28 for sure. Hope Ford has an answer. Bring Dodge too!!! :)

Isnt the Z28 also minus a shitload of normal creature comforts (power windows/locks, AC, rear seat, etc) while the Boss LS is just minus rear seat?

The Z/28 still has a rear seat and but no A/C and radio. I think it still has power windows and door locks.

+1 All this brings is better car's for all of us. I am happy GM did this with the Z28, now I want to see Ford's response...the day they stop caring is the day we stop getting awesome car's and the day they start going under again. lol

I looked:
http://fastestlaps.com/tracks/laguna_seca.html

I'll take the lower laptime. There is no way in hell that 1:44 time should even be mentioned because that is slower than an E92 M3 runs. We all know a E92 M3 is behind a Boss and in front of a 5.0 on a track.

Randy Pobst didn't run that lap so for the point of this thread the 1:39 lap time is irrelevant.

But it does beg the question for another thread why would M/T and Randy sand bag the Boss LS so much and why would Ford allow them to print it.

This years competition is such a disappointment. No C7 , No GT3, No cayman GTS, No viper TA ....just a lack of higher performance cars and too many " mid level" cars . With that said it is intestesting to see the Z/28 get murdered by over 2 seconds to the luxury 911 when it beat it at VIR...also I feel the nismo is an under performer and it just shows they have trully maxed out this platform. It was a good run and the car still to this day causes lots of butthurt but its time they hit the draw board again

^ im pretty underwhelmed with how the z28 did at laguna. Guess that VIR laptime really hyped it up for me. I hope someone has a stock acr and runs it on the repaved course.

Also the motortrend laptimes are bogus, they have a z06 lapping faster than a viper acr (1:34 vs 1:35). The acr does it in 1:33, dodge made a viper to commemorate that time too.

Anyways i hope they bring better cars next year, hellcat challenger maybe? 918, p1 c7z... etc
