Automatic/dct/smg/ etcetera Transmission calibration is timely and costly. Even at a simple backyard grass root level, the time and energy it takes to get a single car running well is frustrating enough. Now calibrate for as many plausible weather conditions as possible, temps, drivers styles, etc etc. Its more complicated than engine choice.
Manual trans is much easier but still frustrating in its own ways. I can honestly see Ford being able to offer a manual trans in this application. That said, I would be surprised or upset if they said why bother. From a business perspective I get the play call.
That said, some customers may be turned off. I’m wanting to pick up a new gt500 in a 2 year time frame to decently modify it. If I have to sell a beautiful transmission to put in my archaic (but rewarding) manual tr6060 or so on in, that ok by me. I also plan to sell the supercharger for a well designed and flashy enough custom single turbo.
I’m a person that likes to tinker by nature, buying it and leaving it stock wouldn’t satiate my stupidity or creativity unfortunately.
