Thought my clutch went out without warning.
85 MPH on highway felt like it slipped into neutral, coast to side of road and it won't engage in gear and I hear a thumping noise. No blue smurf shit so I know it's not a broken 1/2 shaft although the noise it was making resembled that.

Towed to mechanic friends house. He was going to replace the clutch but found the input shaft was broken.

Has this happened to anyone else. Should I replace the clutch also?
How much does an input shaft cost?

Any input appreciated.

Dan

You like chicken or beef flavor the best?

That's the same set-up I have on my car and love it. I chatters a little in first but holds mad power.
Good luck on the install.

Honestly after installing the Centerforce DF/26 spline, retainer sleeve, and a few other things you'r going to wish your cobra came like that from factory...if you can do it on your own be sure to set aside plenty of downtime because im sure we've all had issues with part's not coming. It's well worth it and im pretty close to finishing in my break in process but once I am all hell will break loose :).

You won't be disappointed. Nice upgrade IMO. And heck, you'll get used to some budget food for awhile to pay for the package. LOL! Let us know how you like the new setup.

Just did that package and can attest you won't be dissapointed... You're doing the cooling mod while the tranny is out right?

unfortunately I nearly had to hold up a liqour store to get the money for the clutch package so nothing that is not absolutely necessary can be done right now.

The funny thing is I was speeding (yes really) only about 85MPH but there was some traffic. If I were doing the speed limit I may not have had enough inertia and time to get to the shoulder.

I don't think the cops would buy that story but my speed helped me.

So have you been launching it hard on stickies? Lots of Terminator owners in my neck of the woods running 500 and 600+ rwhp and noone I know has broken their input shaft yet.

I haven't been launching hard. 2 years ago I went to the track 2 passes.

I don't launch hard spin or hop but do hit it from time to time in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th...
