i am looking to buy a new set of gears for my gt. the car will be a daily driver and the car is n/a. i was wondering what the better gear set for a DD would be 3.73 or 4.10. i was also wondering about the effect on gas milage and top speed that each gear would have on the car.

I'd go with 4.10s, I love mine and wouldn't even think about changing ratios now. The gas mileage isn't as bad as you'd think. I drove mine across Canada with both the 3.27s and 4.10s and the gas bill was not that much higher with the 4.10. You can also get better city mileage depending on how you drive with the 4.10s (I'm assuming this is a 5 speed) The "seat of the pants" feel of acceleration is the real selling point for me though.

when cruising at highway speeds are the rpms very high with the 4.10s because i don't want it to be annoying

In my car I get about 2300 rpm at 110 km/h i think that's somewhere around 65-70 mph maybe. With the stock gear it's about 2000 rpm at 110, so it's really not that big a difference.

i have an auto and 4.10s and at 70 on the highway i run about 2700rpm i love my 4.10s but if you do alot of highway and want that high speed (over 100mph) all the time i would go with 3.73s

i have a manual and i will be traveling on highways with speed limits around 65 to 70 mph so i am not to concerned about 80+mph travel

I have the 4.10 gears in mine but i have the 6speed and im running bout the same around 65 or 70 im running about 2300rpm. if i drive decent i get around 16 to 18 to the gallon. i do a bit of highway travel and get pretty good mileage on that too. on interstate i usually run around 75 and 80. if you travel a whole lot might want to get the 373 but the 410 are gona be a bit more fun.

I'd definetely do 4.10's then. But if you have flowmaster 40 series, I'd might think twice. But still probably do it.

You will hear mixed opinions on this topic all day but here's my 2 cents. I went with 3.73's because of all the stop and go driving I do with the car and I can say I'm very happy that I didn't go with 4.10's. Even 3.73's are a lot of gear for stop and go driving in a small suburb like where I live, it's not excessive but I do find myself at higher rpms trying to stay in a gear with all the lights and traffic. I can't say I've gone home with a sore leg from daily driving but I do think more then 2000 rpms at 40 would be a bit annoying and that's where you stand with 3.73's. I can get into 5th at 45 and be at 1500rpms so it's plenty of gear for me but it's all up to you. Running out of good gear at about 115 is no fun either I wouldn't want any lower speed in 4th. I really wish these cars didn't have such overdriven 5th gears, I often wish I had the T-45's .68 rather then my T-3650's .62 or whatever the numbers are.

3.55's wouldn't make hardly any difference over the stock 3.27's. I say if you are staying n/a 4.10's are where it's at. Gas mileage is a non issue unless you have a lead foot. I think mine dropped 1mpg...it was not noticeable at all.

I had 410s in my somewhat modded gt and didnt like them just cause I like to get up to speeds of 115-120 quite a bit and with 410s thats nearly impossible. i toped my car out with 410s at 121 mph when rev limiter hit. that was at 5600 rpm. now i have 373s . i love them. tops out at 148 . gas not that much differnce. also realize that if u have 410s and do drive a bit on highway at 70-80 mhp alot, it is a lot of strain on ur engine unless its modded quite a bit.

I've got 4.10s and I lovem but I'm currently planning on changing to 3.73s because as stated before I also prefer to go faster than what the 4.10s limit the 3650 to(I'd also just rather have a t56 haha), but overall if you wanna get through the gears faster and just cruise 4.10s are the better route for you, not a bad drop on gas mileage, and not too bad of rpm levels on highway and city driving
