I am having a hell of a time finding a good off-road x-pipe to replace my h-pipe. I have Stainless Works long tubes and 3" off-road h. I am wanting to upgrade to an x but it doesn't look like there are many 3" options out there. My cat back is Magnaflow 3" and would like to keep it all the same. I see a lot of options for the 11-14 Mustangs but i know the flanging is a little different. How hard would one of these be to modify to fit the 05-10 cars?

Wouldn't it be cost effective to pick up something like this >>

I bought a Bassani 3" catback a long time ago, then proceeded to mod it big time. The one thing I kept was the "x". It is still available, but not cheap... I now have a pair of 3" chambered mufflers and a pair of 3" resonators.

Yeah that may be the route I end up going if I can't find anything. Was hoping to avoid custom work but I suppose it would be a good time to break out the new welder.

Are you looking for a sound change? Thats the only real difference you will get.

kooks is a 3" (unless my eyes are bad). I have the catted and offroad versions and both are 3"
I can attest for the X being raspy esp with no cats.

I do not have long tubes, I have FRPP shorty's but I have been playing with 3" from the shorty's back.

A few years ago I installed the full Shelby/JBA 3" from Shelby Perf. Parts which included an X, that is what has been on my 2008 for about 10 years...........

About a month ago I changed that X to a 3" MAC Prochamber..........

and a compare between the two..........

There is also a 3" H that can be adapted to the 2008-2010 GT500 application replacing the X, or for 2011-2014 if you want to upsize from 2.75" to 3"............

I believe (but am not positive), that any of these 3" X, H or Prochamber options can be fitted in behind long tubes? It may require removing some length from them on the inlet end while also adding collectors......

BTW - The 3" Prochamber shown above is for the 2011-2014 5.0 Mustang application, and the 3" JBA H shown above if for the 2005-2010 Mustang GT applications. Fitment into the GT500 application is minimal from what I have experienced.

On my 2008 I also added the 2007 trans. cross member which includes the right and left exhaust hangers. These hangers were deleted by Ford after 2007.

^^^^^^This is why some/most 2005-2010 Mustang V8 exhaust have the hangers welded to the pipes and why 2011-2014 do not.

Robert, How do you like the sound of the Pro Chamber? This is an idea I have played with as well. I have also thought about doing the resonated x pipe and then running a more aggressive muffler like a race bullet or something.

My 3" X was raspy, as has been mentioned above. The Prochamber seemed to quiet it down slightly and the exhaust tone seems to be lower, maybe similar to an H?

Full 3" exhaust has much room for sound to bounce around, so it will give a tone different from a smaller diameter system.
