I switched to 3.73's abouth a month ago. Best move i made.

Same here but switched mine a few months ago. Worth every penny.
I had 3.31's and hated them.
Now time to get rid of the POS base steering wheel and get a tune.

I am thinking a 3.90 is just right.

I have 3.73's and "feel" like I am wanting more.

What is that old saying? Never fear the gear!

I don't know; 3.73 is as low as I would go to be perfectly honest. With any sort of power adder I'd be heading back down the gears, probably to 3.31s.

Not off idle. It would chirp 3rd though.
If I launched at all yes.
Overall 3.31's were boring, sluggish and unsatisfying to me.

I could see 3.31's being cool if you had forced induction.
If staying stock or near stock and for daily driving fun this motor needs 3.73's or even 4.10's IMO.
I may change what I'm saying about gears after I get a tune but definitely no lower than 3.55's...

I have not driven a 3.31 or 3.55 for comparison to my 3.73 from the factory. But my experience with the 3.73 is good. I've read that first gear is useless, but virtually all mt vehicles I've driven use 1st primarily for starting from a dead stop--with very little time in that gear. One thing I like about the 3.73 (also a downside as far as mpg, possibly), is that in 6th gear the car still pulls quite well without a downshift.

I'm also loving the 3.73's. They give the car that extra "pep". Since my car is just a DD top end isn't really that important to me. The 3.73's are great for light-to-light runs though. As far as gas mileage goes, I'm getting about 21-22 mpg. That's including at least a couple of 100 mph sprints on a tank.

Anyone who switched gears notice a significant MPG change?

Have had 3.73's for 5k miles and noticed and overall drop of 1mpg compared to the 3.31's:shrug:
Had 3.31's for 5k miles as well.

3.55's are supposed to be the best power adder gear. I will be going for N/A horsepower since I drive the car on road courses. Once I start getting up to 480+ wheel, I will probably drop down to 3.55's.
