I have a 04 mach 5 speed and probably getting gears next month. I've read A LOT on the mach 1 registry forum about different opinions. Most of my driving is in the city where its 35-40 mph and i heard 4.56s are great in town and not bad on the freeway. When i do drive on the freeway i'm cruising around 60-65mph, I would like to take it to the track at least once or twice a year not to much. My question is..with 315 size Nitto nt555s in the back..would they hook on the track decently with 4.56s or would 4.30s be any better?

Id go 4.30, since the track isn't the main purpose for the car. But 4.56's aren't bad either.

I went with 4.30's, since i like the drag race as much as possible. I didn't want to run out of gear in the 1/4. But, if i wasn't into that i would have went with 4.56's.

If your car was going to be mainly track and were going to run sticky tires, then I would suggest 4.56's. Since your car will be mainly street driven and without a sticky tire, go with 4.30's.

Please note the Nitto 555 is not a suitable drag tire. Its compound is not sticky at all. The NT05R's and Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials are. However, they last about only 10K miles and to not fare well in wet weather.

Run a little bigger tire and spray it ;)

You can get to almost 120 with the 4.56's. I want to be almost maxed out in 4th at the 1/4 line.

As a point of reference I have run a [email protected] with a 1.87 60ft (have had a 1.80 60ft as well) on 17" MT DRs, Borla Catback, Votgland springs, full length subframe connectors, and MM Adj. LCA. Stock gears and no tune.
