Does anybody have or know someone who has the hardballer intake? I know it's a stretch but I'd much rather get one of those instead of the adapter plates. Also does anyone have or know someone who has custom longtubes that'll fit my 97gt with 5.4? please answer thanks

As for the intake keep an eye on ebay. That's where the last one I saw was.

As for your long tubes I remember a thread on Corral where a guy modified some cheap pacesetter headers.

I’ve looked on eBay on and off for a while and have never seen a hardballr intake pop up.

May not be worth it but another option is to widen an edelbrock intake.

I remember that one. I can't imagine what it would cost these days to have someone weld one. That's got to be a **** ton of hours. If you have the skills to do it yourself it would be worth it.

I can only imagine. I know I couldn’t do it lol. Probably a dumb idea but what about a 3D printed 5.4 2v intake but with a lower profile. Pretty much a widened 4.6 pi intake. I’m sure that would be expensive too but it’s a thought.

I really don't want to have to use the adapter plates but it's definitely looking like the only option.

I've been trying to get someone to make drop engine mounts for years. Still no luck. I hate K-member spacers and those drop mounts would help line up the exhaust better with the 5.4, so everything doesn't hit the floor pans and K-member. Would also help hood clearance.

I was wondering if getting a tubular k member would help with the long tubes?

Certainly would, but it won't help floor pan clearance or steering shaft clearance. I got the flaming river steering shaft to help. It gets rid of the rag joint and frees up space. I'm still debating on the k member, but it all adds up price wise. Remember the 5.4 is taller and wider so the exhaust is going to not only move out, but up and sometimes causes some floor pan to collector clearance issues. Long tubes make all of this harder. There are some shortly headers that fit. I went with the bassani mid lengths because they have individual tubes and will be easier to test fit and modify. Also just make the car more streetable especially if you're lowered.

yea my cars already lowered and I already have a set of BBK long tubes from the 4.6 I'd prefer to keep the long tubes but like you said it's all adding up so if it's more cost efficient to get a set of shorties I might just go that route and call it a day. I just want to have it done before spring.

I'm definitely going with the tubular k member though to see if that'll work and I'll probably get that steering shzft you mentioned

I wouldn’t worry about the spray pattern too much. So many people have done the swap this way without issues.

There’s a guy doing a 5.4 3v swap on here. He might be able to help you out with how he fit it in there.

I think he used a 5.4 3V intake which wouldn't work for the OP. Far as I know, the HPS is the only one that will fit under the stock hood of our cars. All the other intakes are larger and require an aftermarket hood. I'm running a ported HPS on my 5.4 swap car.
