While polishing my car with Meguiar's 205, I accidentally bumped the convertible trim near the trunk lid. It left the trim glossier than the surrounding area.

Does anybody know of a fix for this?

lightly wetsand (water and dawn) with 3000 and you'll get the satin back. For a totally uniform look go over the entire piece.

3k sand paper with soft water. Don’t color sand with hard water, makes a mess.

Soft touch. Wrap a strip of 3k around a cotton ball/etc and pinch the ends of the strip.

Don’t push too hard, can really leave lines and groove’s etc.

Also make sure it’s clean, dusty surface can have large particles and make scratches and grooves too

I did tape off the trim, I just did not go up that high. I remember when buffing the buffer caught the tape and pulled and that must have been when it happened.

The problem is now fixed! I polished all the metal trim so it is now even and matches the rubber on the door Ledges as well.

That looks good. I like it.
