Well this is a sad story so keep your tears to a minimum please
I bought an aluminator long block with Manley pistons and I beams, cobra crank, ported 9 thread heads, completely built. I was assured , by the guy building my engine and who also sold me the engine, that everything was the same as my 03 cobra block because I was pressed for time I couldn't be poking around with downtime not having the right parts
My stock cobra engine failed so I had it out and I'm waiting to put this engine that came in 3 days before I'm supposed to be at the tuner. I put it together and fired it, turned over sounded great. Put 3 gallons of coolant in it fired it up again for maybe 5 minutes noticed I didn't have any coolant in the bottle and noticed I had a milky leak hitting the floor.
Well I tore the timing cover back off the engine and there's a timing cover bolt that doesn't line up between the 2 blocks (that are exactly the same like I was assured) and the bolt hole that isn't used just happens to run clear through to the water jacket. Pretty much all of my coolant drained right into the timing cover and down into the pan.
Drained the milkshake oil and there was probably 4 gallons that came out.
So my question is why would ford put a timing cover bolt hole clear through to the water jacket, or has no one else ever encountered this problem?
Here you can see someone tried to put a bolt in it before, I may have also tried(it's been a long 3 days)
Here's a video of blowing on the top coolant hose and pressurizing the system
