My TOB and I believe TOB retainer sleeve are gone and I will be upgrading the clutch/flywheel since the tranny will be down so I intend on going with a spec3(not the 3+) and a Fidenza fly wheel on my 03 Cobra any one have this set up is it a good choice??? How is the Spec3 compared to the Center Force DF(not DFX)???

Just installed both with the Liberty 26 spline and Lethal sleeve. Lethal gave me a nice package price for the whole setup. Only have 50 miles on it so can't give you a long term opinion yet.

I wouldn't put a Fidanza flywheel on a big wheel!! A friend of mine had two large issues with them on another platform.

1. It was seriously unbalanced from the factory. Got another one and same issue, he had that one machined within spec.

2. The pins which align the pressure plate came out while driving ruining the entire clutch, flywheel, and did heavy damage to the trans. case and engine block. This was with the 1st unit the pins were not touched by anyone but Fidanza.

The Spec 3 is a puck-style clutch similiar to the DFX, while the CF Dual Friction is a full circular disc. Don't know what your intended use for your Cobra is, but know some folks that have had great success with the Spec 3. If you want to hit the track a fair bit, you may want to consider the 3+. ;-)

I have the spec 3, spec steel flywheel, and 26 spline input shaft! I am very happy with it.

I believe the Spec 3 has the "puck" style disc which is known to be a bit chatty. The 3+ uses as regular style disc and is supposed to be more street friendly as well stronger.

I have everything as mentioned above, first 1,000 miles expected chatter to rattle your teeth, it gets better. No problems here after 2800 miles. Reverse chatter is still there.

The pins do not come installed when you buy the flywheel new. You install them yourself. So he must have screwed up when installing them, because I've never had a single problem. The most critical thing to getting a clutch to work right is getting it through heat cycles those first miles.

1350 miles, and not a single problem. I'm on the spec 3+. Very very stout, and grabs no questions asked. Took the car to a 10.43 FULL WEIGHT on nitto's.

Edit* I even have the spare tire and jack in the trunk!!

yea, i've got a spec 3+ in my garage that i'm going to sell. My buddy has a spec 3 in his Mach it chatters and the pedal was stiff, plus I wasn't able to feather the clutch at all; it was either engaged or not engaged. Do you still have the IRS?

Congrats on your time!

street manners are liveable. I do not drive stop and go traffic very often. I usually run at the track, or run down bikes on the highways, or I'm hard on it coming up over a winding PA hill. I love this clutch. It's not easy to slip, but it can be done. I like it over a puck style clutch because there is very little chatter. I'd recommend it over a puck clutch, but a twin disk is even better, all depending on what you want to spend.

For the money, the spec 3 is by far the best bang for the buck, and it still retains complete streetability.

Yes, stock IRS. The trap speeds I have been running are putting me at running 9.9's but traction is an issue and I do not have the cash to throw some level 5's and slicks on it.(moving end of month) I'm pulling 135-140mph traps with 2.5-2.8 60s...I know, but I'm not launchin super hard on stock half shafts. Clutch isn't an issue, it's the half shafts I do not want to replace.

well im not getting a damn spec clutch again.

http://svtperformance.com/forums/showthread.php?t=442314 <=== Fidanza + spec 3+ gone

I started a 2nd gear brake torque(like heating the tires up at the track) let go of the brake and rode out maybe 40 feet, then noticed i cannot get the damn car into gear at all!

Towed it home, took it all down, thinking it was the tranny, but it was the Spec 3+ seized onto the Fidanza Alum. fly and gouged to hell!.. I even had my clutch set up with a proper 1/8" TOB to the fingers clearance!!!!!!

SO now my fly, and clutch is TOAST.

Oh yeah, my car only has an upper, the clutch only had maybe 4 - 6000 miles on it, and only 3 track passes total after the clutch was properly broken in.

I dont know who to go with now, but not SPEC.

Just my .02

-Mark
