I am looking for a good tuner around the northern VA area. I have had experience with excessive and would not go back. It looks like JPC is very involved with the new 5.0s. Just curious if anyone had feedback on their tuning.

Had my lightning tuned by them, intake and exhaust only and never ran right after. Not one to bash just mentioned them b/c they do come up alot due to them being one of the few mustang specialists in the area.

In addition to JPC, there is Woodbine Motorsports as well.

I'm pretty sure that was the place where the tuner told a friend that fuel trims don't matter on a 5.0. Pass!

VMP is great to work with. Had Justin help me with a tune with an 06 with a Stage 3 Roush Kit and it runs great. I will use him again with my new 5.0.

there is adam from revolution automotive here in maryland he been in 5.0 mag a couple of times. I have seen actually be at the tracking and one of his customers was having issues with his 5.o and actually took down the track and figure out the problem and adjust his tune at the track no charge and his a nice to talk to. really know his stuff about the new 5.0. (i hear ya about not dealing with excessive anymore they bought me a new motor do to there fault, but i had a issues with the time it took them to do the motor)

That may have been taken out of context since the Copperhead based PCM utilizes wideband O2 sensors instead of narrowband O2 sensors in previous Mustangs.

I would put my reputation on HBH as a tuner. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. He tuned my car after the KB install and he took the time to not only make sure it made good, SAFE power, but also spent just as much time adjusting the tune for driveability. It purred like a kitten.

Funny that you mentioned Excessive earlier in the thread; they tuned my car before HBH did (didnt know HBH was back up from Tampa when I went for a tune) and the car only gained 48hp and actually lost 10 ft/lbs of torque from a steggy IV ported blower @ 15lbs to a KB 2.2 @ 19lbs, and the driveability was horrible. ported #s were also on their same dyno so I didnt chalk it up to difference in the type of dyno. I took it to Hermann, he worked his magic, brought down the boost to 17lbs and made 608rwhp and around 553tq, a gain of almost 100whp and about 50ft/lbs from the ported blower, and about 50hp more than Excessives tune with 2lbs less boost and less timing. I must say though, the guys at Excessive werent rude or anything, very friendly and nice guys, but I just didnt think the quality of their work was that good.

HBH is probably the best around. Woodbine would be second. From the guys I know that have had work done by JPC its expensive and they do just enough for you to notice but leave enough out for you to keep coming back for more. That said they do build some ridiculously fast cars.
