First of all, I understand this is not a BMW forum, but I do know people here have a wide variety of cars.

I'm in the market for a new (to me) car and I've been looking at the 13/14 335i sedan. Anyone have any experience with them? Any major issues? I know of a few things with the N54 motor including charge pipe, valve cover gasket, and oil pan gasket.

Thanks.

I have a 13 335 that I am selling.
The only issue we have had is the valve body in the transmission. However the car only has 47k miles on it.

The F30 335i's all had the N55 motor which are supposed to be a little more reliable than the N54. If you want to modify it the N54 is the better motor IMO.

For starters, what someone said, the F30 have the “new” N55, its a single dual bearing turbo I believe. I seem to recall a ton of the issues being ironed out, not sure on the infamous water pump though.

I drove a N55 335i when mine was getting a recalled done and it felt no overall, maybe a tad better down low as it does provide a slight better power band. If you’re going to modify both cars, the N54 is the better one by a slight edge.

The LCI F30's (340i/440i) have the new B58. Otherwise yes, the older cars have the N55.

My mothers 2015 X5 has the N55 and 15,000 miles on it. Everything has been smooth sailing so far. Honestly its thrown absolutely zero issues unlike my fathers 16 F150 or my mustang.
