Hey T0RCH3D,

All I can say is.... Wow! Awesome documentation on the install and it sure does look clean.

Where's the exhaust video? Don't tease us like that!

Let's hear it!

Thanks,

I also went with the Bassani 3" cat back. I was pissed to find the mufflers are not a true straight through design like they told me on the phone before ordering. So I tossed those mufflers aside and looking for alternatives. Pretty annoying considering the cost of that 3" cat back.

BTW how many miles does your car have? or not have lol. Engine bay looks like the car's never been driven.
Love the sound, but I may go with louder mufflers in the future we will see. Sounds very clean how it is now. Car has 7600 on it now, bought the car with 6700 last May. It was a Texas collector car up to 2013 so that contributes to how clean it is. Thanks for the kind words!

Well if I can get a certain someone to finally agree to sell, we will be putting long tubes on my car next year... No true 3" custom ordered jobbers like you have but I don't have the monster plans that you have either!
I wouldn't mind helping, shouldn't be hard to get yours done. Just gotta wheel and deal with tony and snag them parts!

I can't get over how clean your car is under the engine.

12 years old and it still looks like brand new.

So. When is the HUGE blower going to go on?
Thank you, kills me to say but the blower is a ways out.

How did you clean and sealed your your fender well? Very nice job btw!
Used a small brush and microfiber and cleaned with APC. Then used Chemical guys barebones. Nothing to crazy. CarPro Trix is also a good product is use on them as well.

Very nice job op. So what's the benefits of the different steering shaft? I'm guessing for clearance with the 1 7/8? I have 1 3/4 going on soon, so if I can stick with oem one I will.
Besides clearance, it is just a far more superior design. Steering is much more responsive, eliminates slop or the dead feeling in the steering wheel. I installed MM solid steering rack bushing as well and together it helps you have a better feel of the car. You notice the bumpsteer more too which help the driver with cornering. All this isn't that important to me since I don't carve corners hard with the car, but it is even nice for the streets here.

Great job!! Looked to be a royal pita.
Not bad actually. I didn't mind the install at all but I enjoy projects.

LOL this is why I'm having my shop install the headers, I don't have the patience doing them.
Do them yourself haha! If I can do it you can, nothing crazy involved. Just can't be claustrophobic!

Haha I was gonna say he made it look easy!

Those things are huge! Can't wait to hear em
Soon enough!

Very nice work OP. Do you have the link for the exhaust clip?
Not yet, needed to be tuned!

Nice write up and a beautiful car!
Thank you!

When you raised your car up, how did you do it? One side up a little then the other, or front then the back?

Great Picks!! Going to be taking the plunge and ordering the same headers as you have... :D
Drove up on the ramps I made and raised the rear to that level. Then kept raising front to back slowly until i got to the level I needed. Probably should've went an inch or two higher would've been easier to roll the K out under the car on the jack instead of dragging it! Live and learn.

Great post

The pictures are so detailed it brings back memories of the love/hate relationship I've had with LT's LOL

1 7/8" primaries, a 3" OR pipe with an Eaton in front of it? A 2.9 should be next on your shopping list.
That's the plan! Love, hate is a great way of describing it lol

Great pictures op very nice thanks for sharing!
Thank you!

How is the fitment around the starter? With my kooks, I'm going to have to take the k member out to change starter ha.

That's tough to call. I think I can get it out if I loosen the motor mounts. I know I can get to the solenoid and terminals no problem but getting to that top starter bolt might be the only snag I can see me having. They are definitely far from the starter clearance wise because of how wide they are in the tunnel but that's still doesn't help. Thats pretty much the most I can elaborate on that. If it comes down to it, I know once I have the car in the air. I can have the K dropped in about an hour.

Another one in for vids!! Pictures look great man. When/if I do headers they will only be arh's going on my car. After installing 50+ sets of longtubes on all the big 3 cars, arh and stainless works are best of the best. Sucks SW doesn't make a 1 7/8 primary/3" collector but arh does ;).

I might have missed it in the pics but did you get a catted midpipe or no? Also how about a pic underneath with the car on the ground showing the ground clearance :)

Yeah an aftermarket k makes all the difference. I should have specified factory k.

OP, I will be installing this identical exhaust setup on my car soon, so this will be very helpful! Is the steering shaft completely necessary? They freaking $300 lol

Also, do you have the links to these items?

"10mm and 13mm stubby, half moon, and s-type wrenches"

Thanks

Videos do not do it justice, def alot louder in person... and 05 yea its necessary... He tried to get the install done with the factory one and it wouldn't clear so he had to order the MM one in the middle of the install.

I could not get them to clear the stock rag joint. Though I didn't try to much to make it fit, it I really wanted to make it fit Im sure it can be done considering how close it is. I could've dented the header very slightly, but I did not want to do that. I could've loosened the K and used a pry bar to move the K slightly to the passenger side or better yet loosen the motor mounts and slightly move the motor. Will these options work, not too sure since I wasnt willing to try them. I wanted the K and the motor mounts back in the same factory position and alignment and that what I did. I wasn't thrilled about spending the 300 but for in the end I am happy I made the decision. Couple the MM steering shaft with the MM solid rack bushings makes for more predictable, precise steering. And that's coming from a guy who cruises the car with 1 or 2 strip days a season.

As for the wrenches. The s-type and half moon wrenches I bought from Summit Racing. They are Sunex wrenches and you can buy them individually. Just buy a metric stubby set from any auto store or summit. You just need 10mm and 13mm
