I have the mac o/r h pipe, and the Flowmaster catback system. Sounds deep, but a little too "burbly" for me. The thing I like about the system I have now is you can HEAR the car coming down the road, but the constant burble is annoying after a bit..

I was thinking about dropping the o/r pipe, and going with an MRT catted h. I know the sound would be deep..but I wonder what you lose soundwise with the cats?

Then again, alot of guys seem to like the Prochamber with the Mac catback (or a chambered exhaust).

Recommendations?

I have the Flowmaster American Thunder with the MRT Catted H like others, and you won't lose any of the "burble" you dislike by adding some cats. I personally like it and think this combo is the essence of what these cars should sound like. As far as volume, you will obviously lose a ton of it, cruising and WOT, but that is also one of the reasons I love it. With the Delta Series mufflers, the cabin is extremely quiet under cruising, and even under WOT the blower whine is the main sound you hear. Crank down the windows and it's a different story!

I have super 40s on my car with stock H-pipe and it sounds good but I've been wanting a new mid pipe for years. My car sounds good but I need more volume, thinking about a ProChamber or the MRT-H? Also I heard Magna Packs for the first time the other day with stock H-pipe on a 2V GT and they sounded awesome!

The Prochamber or the MRT will really open up those Super 40's. You will be shocked. You can keep the deep sound of your 40's and pick up the extra volume you want. Go for it and don't look back.

I have the ProChamber and Mac Catback on my Cobra. I have an H pipe and Original 40 series mufflers on the GT. The Mac set up wins for having the deeper, lower growl :)

The Super 44's are tucked into Bassani tubing, so I get those sweet Bassani 4" tips poking out the back.

Id say Borla Stingers or MAC's hands down. I really dont like the sound of the SLP exhaust's, just entirely too raspy for me, and sometimes reminds me of a domestic version of a Honda fart can rasp(not trying to offend those with SLP's, just my opinion). They sound alright WOT, but thats about it.

I switched my Bassani o/r X with 2.5'' Mac dumps to a Mac Prochamber with 3" dumps. The Prochamber is a bit quieter while cruising than the o/r x was, but damn near the same at WOT. The thing I like the best is the car doesnt have that raspyness during downshifts now, and is much deeper.

I like Borla the best. Personal preference. Heard LM2 on a car the other day and totally hated it.

I have the Steeda Catback which is produced by Borla. It is the Quiet borlas.

Here is a video of mine with the UPR o/r x pipe. I wouldn't want it any louder. That is how I know I'm getting old.:dw:

Forgive the video. Excuse is shifter handle was loose. I couldn't accurately find 3rd gear. I was getting irritated by the end of the session. I need to make a new video. LOL.

to the OP...the mid pipe is where most of your sound comes from. the MAC Prochamber will give you the deepist sound. so i say longtubes (of your choice) ,MAC Prochamber ,( and one of the following) reg.magnaflow catback, magnaflow magnapacks, or bassani race 3"in catback.

i found a good clip on youtube of a blue mach1 that had a prochamber and magnapacks.
in the search block type 2003 mach1 with fr500 cams.

i'd stay away from chambered mufflers they have more of a "hollow" sound.

good luck with your choice.

If you'll go to the New Edge Cobra section, there is a whole thread of nothing but sound clips of different setups. It's a sticky at the top.

I have a SLP LM II catback with catted Magnaflow X. I really want to change my catback and get a MAC because it will sound alot better. Thing is I like the quality and fitment of the SLP...is there a MAC muffler I can weld in this piping? Does Mac sell a 3" or 2.5" stainless steel catback that fits better now? Does 2.5" or 3" sound better?
