Best way to prep an eaton for paint

What is the best way to prep an eaton for paint? Ant advise would be great?

i had mine media blasted, planning on complete rebuild though.

Blasted. I did it by stripping the paint and sanding it.

Its already coated from the factory, no need to blast or remove the coating.

Brake Clean and a rag. Ive painted 5 like this no issues

Stieg. removed the coating from mine during rebuild.

i did use paint stripper initially, but it wouldn't take it all off...so i had it media blasted. took like 5 minutes. i need all new bearings/seals put in it anyway so i wasn't concerned about debris getting in them.
