I have used them both and can say that without a doubt the KDW2 is a better tire.

I've never personally used Nitto 555's, but I have however used KDW2's and am a big fan of them (that's all I ever had on my GT)! And for the most part everybody prefers the KDW2's over the 555's, at least in my experience in talking to others (and not just versus the 555's).

Had them on my old wheels and loved them. Great dry traction grip and do just fine in the rain.

KDW2 > 555
KDW2 < 555R iirc

KDW2 doesnt come in a 315 in either 17 or 18" sizes so it kinda limits you to a 295. Id rather have 315 555r's.

the KDW2 is a fantastic tire, but it is noisy. if that is something that would affect your decision, keep it in mind...

Having owned 555s and my current KDW2s... the KDWs are without a doubt the best street tires I've ever owned.

The only negative is, as mentioned, the noise. Almost sounds like mud tires if you listen for it :rolling:

Lots of factors to consider, why limit yourself to just those two?

I'm assuming your looking for a sporty street tire. The best tires I have ever used was Michelin Pilot Sport 2 followed second by Kumho Ventus V12. The Kumho's are a great tire for the price.

+1 for the pikot sports. I've had them for a few months and they perform very well. They're quite too.

Invos = KDW2, to me it comes down to looks...

Nitto555r > KDW2 in traction but KDW2 > Nitto555r in durability and wet/rain handling

pilots2 >>> KDW/Invos in every aspect but much more pricey and dont last quite as long

I run a set of 315/35R-17 NT555R on my 9.0" wide stock rears, and they have done surprisingly well in the rain. They are due for replacement and are at about 11,000 miles but are affordable at $400.00 or less for a set of 315's. 555R's run narrow but will conform liberally to a wide range of wheel sizes. They aren't the greatest for off-the-line grip, but will hold through 1st gear pretty well on a hot day.

So they ARE noisy. I was wondering if it was just my C/Os causing all the noise I get. My car absolutely SCREAMS at about 45mph. It's almost unbearable.
