My passenger side front caliper has been binding. The rims gets super hot and my MPGs really suck.

On top of that when I hit the brakes at speed the truck pulls to the left hard.

It is as if the caliper is stuck in a half ass position that is binding and not braking correctly at the same time.

Soooo yesterday I replaced the caliper and brake pads.

I bled the crap out of the brakes with a clear hose and all.

Same crap. Rim gets really hot, "new" caliper is binding, truck pulls left like a 65 Mustang.

Any suggestions?????

The slides are frozen you either have to take them apart and clean and grease or just buy a new caliper assembly.

He said he replaced the caliper already.

Did he replace the mounting bracket?

^^^ could definitely be a slide pin issue

any chance a wheel bearing on the verge of letting go can cause it to pull?

The new caliper came with new slide pins. The old ones still had pink grease on them from a brake repalcement about 10K ago.

Should I concentrate on the caliper or look elsewhere?

so you put new slide pins into the old mounting bracket? did you check to make sure they move freely?

if so only thing I could think from there is as mentioned the fluid isnt flowing back after the brakes are applied (assuming that wheel really is getting hot and the pull under breaking isnt a bad alignment)

I hope that is the case.

I did not check to make sure they were moving freely.

I will have to recheck today.

If they are moving freely what should I check next.

I rarely drive the truck. Just use it to pull the boat and go to Homedepot.

I would bet dollars to donuts that your brake hose is collapsing inside restricting the return of the fluid. Has happenned to mine twice to date.

Just had this happen on my truck this past weekend (right rear caliper smoked).
I hardly ever drive the truck. It has 12k miles and brake fluid is original from factory.
I should have known better and flushed out the brake fluid a few times by now.
Which would be more likely the problem? Bad hose or corroded caliper piston?
Like brake fluid, do brake hoses deteriorate with age from just sitting there?
I'm thinking about ordering a Stifflers brake line kit.

Easiest way to check is to apply the brake and release. Try to spin the wheel, if it doesn't turn, crack the bleeder. If the wheel moves after cracking the bleeder, chances are the hose is bad. If the wheel still doesn't turn, you have an issue with the mounting hardware or the caliper.
