I just ordered 225 x 40 x 18 with an 18 x 9 for the front and I am going with the 275 x 40 x18 with an 18 x 10 in the rear.

I am currently using the 96 spindle with the tire being 1.7 inches shorter than the 275 x 40 I am hoping to lower the front about an inch:banana:

Thanks for the information I really appreciate it.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that front tire is too short and narrow and the rear tire is too tall.

A "standard" 245/45R17 tire is 25.7" in diameter

A 225/40R18 is 25.0" tall and only 8.8" wide. A 245/40 would be a much better choice at 25.7" tall and 9.64" wide.

The 275/40R18 is 26.6" tall.

I had the 245/40 and 275/40 combo on my 91 coupe and it looked silly. The rear tire was way too tall. If the car would have had a 275/35 or equivalent on the back, it would have looked significantly better, IMHO.

Appreciate the compliments guys. Actually, the look of those hypercoated Saleen wheels never really grew on me, so I sold them a few months ago and went with these for more of a sleeper look. They are 17x8s with 245/45R17s on front and 275/40R17 MT DRs on back.

Sorry for the thread hijack! :)

Man that car looks sweet so do you have an IRS rear as well or 5 lug solid axle conversion?

I like the 18 x 10 and 18 x9 look on the coupe better. The rear tire is huge.

It's actually two different setups in the two pics. First one is 4-cyl front springs with Lakewood 90/10s up front and cut stock coils in the rear.

The second pic is FMS C-springs all the way around with Tokico non-adjustables at all 4 corners. That pic shows up an uncut rear C-spring sits, which is too high. I've since taken about a half coil out of the rear springs and it needs about another half coil to make the car level. In that pic, the rear is 1.5" higher than the front.
