I have a blown drivers side shock. Caused by avoiding an accident by jumping a curb. Does anyone know if you need any special tool like a spring compressor or can anyone with a general tool box and jack do the job? Anyone have any how to advice? It would be greatly appreciated!

Spring compressors will help, but they are not technically needed. If this tells you anything, me and two friends did the swap of all 4 springs on my 2000 GT in a day, that was taking our time and working with limited tools. Plus we were 17 and I had little wrenching experience.

Find a writeup for a spring install and follow that.

Impact wrench to get the top bolt off easiest, floor jack under the control arm to hold it while you unbolt the strut.
