Director Sam Mendes has revealed the title for Bond 24 which will be Spectre. Mendes made the announcement this morning from the 007 stage at Pinewood Studios where the film will shoot along with London, Rome, Mexico City, Tangier, Erfoud and the Austrian Alps. The newest cast members are confirmed as Christoph Waltz, Andrew Scott, Dave Bautista, Monica Bellucci and Léa Seydoux. Daniel Craig will of course return as Bond along with Rory Kinnear as Tanner, Ben Whishaw as Q, Naomie Harris as Miss Moneypenny and Ralph Fiennes as the new M. Oscar winner Waltz will play Oberhauser, while Blue Is The Warmest Color‘s Seydoux is Madeleine Swann and Bellucci is Lucia Sciarra. (Bellucci is a nice get for the Bond folks who I hear have been eyeing her for a role for a long time.) Guardians Of The Galaxy‘s Bautista is playing Mr Hinx and Sherlock‘s Scott is Denbigh. Interstellar cinematograther Hoyte Van Hoytema will shoot the film with Mendes. And that same film’s Lee Smith is joining as editor. Also rolling in is the Aston Martin DB10 which was designed specially for Spectre.

The logline for the new film is: “A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.”

Bond aficionados may recognize the title from the 007 canon. It’s an acronym for “Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion.” A global crime organization, it’s previously been led by evil genius Ernst Stavro Blofeld in the Ian Fleming novels, who also appears in the films From Russia With Love, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Diamonds Are Forever and For Your Eyes Only.

Skyfall was great, looking forward to this next year!

I'm a huge Bond fan, my absolute favorite series. Cannot wait for this one, Skyfall was great and I think Waltz will be awesome.

Ill go see this just because of Christoph Waltz and extra cool to see Buatista in it too. He was great in GotG.

I love Bond, but Skyfall was horrible. Ive never been in a movie where I almost fell asleep until that.

Huge bond fan but not a fan of the "new bond" films. You make 20 films one way and then completely change the formula.

I barely even recall the villains or the bond girls from the craig films. Just seem too jason bournish to me

I prefer them, more realistic. The only one I am not a fan of is Quantum of Solace although the opening sequence was quite good.
I think the older films, especially the Brosnan ones were too cheesy, Goldeneye was alright.

I think I watched Goldeneye every weekend on vhs back when I was a kid. Loved that movie.

I like the new Bond movies, took me a little bit to warm up to Craig, but I prefer them over some of the cheesy older Bond films.

Thats the thing though. They spend 40+ years developing the character and then completely change it. That would be like calling the Davinci Code movies the new Indiana Jones. Or making the next gen mustang a family sedan only with a 4 or 6 banger engine and auto trans (taurus).
The only thing the new ones have in common with the old ones is the job title, some names and an AM here and there.

I saw a pic the other day of all the Bonds standing there, posing, holding the trusty Walther up. But noooo, not Craig. Hes holding a friggin MP5! Lol

I know the new ones follow the books more closely but its kinda late for that. I think theyre OK but i miss the super villains, gadgets, special cars and hell the MUSIC! They baaaarely played the official Bond theme in just one of the movies!

Cubby must be rolling on his grave!

Looking forward to this. It is really a shame that it is so publicly known that Daniel Craig hates his role as James Bond and is dying for his contract to end. I think he is the best Bond since Connery. I like the changes they have made to modernize the films have been great, as the Pierce Brosnan ones were terrible and way over the top.

I enjoy the new James Bond movies more than Bourne. The first three Bourne movies are great! But if both are on TV, I would rather watch JB since IMO more entertaining. Can’t decide which one I enjoyed more, Skyfall or Casino Royale, everything was very well done in both movies, Javier Bardem as Silva was very memorable.

QoS was….. meh…… Goldenye is a classic in my book though.

That sucks. Maybe thats why I got the feeling with Skyfall that hes just phoning it in.

I liked the Brosnan Bonds, they were a bit over the top but thats more in line with how the rest of them are. I dont like the new ones when they make Bond seem weak and old.

Funny thing is that he had a change of heart at the Skyfall premier. My guess was that he didn’t think they were going to be that well especially after the direction that QoS went. There has to be a reason why he extended the contracts, he could’ve walked away after Skyfall.

It's my understanding that his initial contract was for four movies, not two. Do you have a link to that info? I heard he was happy with Casino Royale, was eh about doing Quantum of Solace, and openly not happy with Skyfall. If he has a had a change of heart that would thrill me as I am a big fan of him as Bond.

No, he was only set for three movies, two after Casino Royal. Months before Skyfall premiered, he extended it to two more movies.

Casino Royale then Skyfall.

I enjoyed the Bourne movies, glad to hear Damon is doing another one finally.

Goldeneye was my favorite Bond movie of all time but if Spectre is anything like Skyfall i will be seeing this in the theatre. Skyfall was amazing and Daniel Craig is finally starting to catch on as the blonde Bond.
