Both sets are street pads. Neither need heat to work properly. The Ferodo pads work better on the track. Both sets are rotor friendly. Do a quick search on the Ferodo DS2500 pads. AWESOME pads!

The Portedfield RS4 are a step better than the Hawk HP Steet and slightly below the DS 2500 in performance. Probably comparable to Hawk HP Plus

This is my experience. Maybe some of the other road course guys can share their expertise.

Either way a couple sets of pads are good to have on hand if you race.

Also the cost I paid was $225 for the Ferodos and $155 for the Porterfields. I Recall paying $75 for the ducts. And $595.00 for the 2 piece rotors.

Decent savings and a good value.
