Uh in GT500 killer comment I was in reference to the Z06 in the video who claimed he killed the GT500 but barely won your in TX and if I am not mistaken the race happened in the DFW area. I assumed since you both were in TX it was a small jab saying you would like to run the Z06 in the video, but I could have been wrong sorry.

Sorry man thought you were reffering to me ,i edited the post

Tittle should read built H/C/I full exhaust Z06 vs stock GT500.

LOL, if it were a H/C/I Z, that stock '13 GT500 would have disappeared into a spec in the background and the Z's speedometer would have been slinging past 200mph.

and vise versa if where a whipped 500 against a stock Z06.
I thought I read Crate engine, thought it was built. Now why would he need a crate engine did old reliable dropped its valves?

Mod list for the 500:

Upper pulley, tune. That is it. Judging by how the race in the video went, an upper and tune would have walked the Z.

ive got a cammed 10.80's 1/4 mile c6z and a 9 sec 2010 whippled GT500.....im a ford man no ifs ands or buts but you cannot compare a C6Z to any mustang....my gt500 at 750rwhp would run the 1/4 in 139-140 mph best and would see 10.40's to 10.60's...my Z makes 527rwhp and 470 rwtq, has an LG cam, full exhaust, cai and dyno tune....both were on a mustang dyno...vette ran 10'80s a bunch of times at 133-134mph....the difference in the 2 cars is unreal, you feel like a feather in the z, the gt500 feels like a tank...that to me is the massive difference...my gt500 made over 200rwhp then my z did yet its only just a few 10ths faster in the 1/4 and i consider myself a descent driver...

my Z on idle
C6Z06 Startup After Winter Storage - YouTube
my Z first time in the 10's 527rwhp on mustang dyno
firsttimeinthe10s - YouTube
my 10 gt500 10.89 758rwhp on dynojet
Shelby GT500 10.89 @ 137.93 - YouTube

im just quick shifting 1,2,3 and powershift 3-4 in the gt500, i never powershift the vette...so imo the performance of both is close, i never did dyno both cars on the same dyno but from my understanding the variance between a dynojet and a mustang dyno reading can be anywhere from 6-13%...so i can add say 9% to the vette rwhp or take 9% from the gt500 to compare what id say is a safe bet on rwhp numbers on the same dyno....id say without a doubt its quite possible the 2 cars in this thread are equally matched....the 630rwhp the gt500 makes is needed just to get the car going, its alot heavier then the c6z....c6z can do pretty much the same with alot less power....from my personal experience if my vette made 630rwhp i dont see my gt500 keeping up with it on a roll....my gt500 is alot different now and runs 9's but id have to think my vette could run 9's with alot less hp then my gt500 makes now....

Yes, we know the killer for the Shelby is the weight. We have to make more power to overcome the weight difference. But I am not modding my Shelby for the sake of running a C6Z.. if one comes along, fine, if not, there are many other cars to play with also. Either way, you have the best of both worlds.

Hopefully Ford will do some serious weight reduction on the 2015's and get them more in line with the weight they used to be, 3200-3400 lbs. If they do that, then it will be a different ballgame altogether for the Z.

Can't beat physics.

Stop posting logical comments, the ZO6 guys are going to get mad at you. The GT500 makes big power so it makes sense it should race things from other classes that are far lighter. :D /sarcasm

Honestly though, are there any races between ZL1's and GT500's? For the most part, I just see ZO6's trying* to pick on the new portly kid on the block.

*Sometimes it backfires on them and the GT500 rolls them.

The ZL1 is not in the same league as the Shelby's performance wise. Maybe they should hunt down 3.7's. :lol1:

Just about all of the ZL1 races I've seen show the ZL1 losing. There have to be some vids out there with them doing better. But yeah, from what I've seen, the ZL1 is very underwhelming so far.

At the drag strip, it is a toss up who wins because drivers are involved. I just saw a 2011 Shelby GT500 ran [email protected] mph obvious with mods. I rarely see Corvette owners run consistently at the track. It is hit or miss.

That's pretty much impossible to do from the factory. The reason it weighs so much more is because the engine is much heavier and larger for one (with or with out the S/C), the car is larger, solid rear axle (which makes launching easier than IRS), and obviously has 4 seats. There would have to be many changes to the gt500 to make it anywhere near 3200 LBS.

Pitty, I wanted to see the GT500 get beat.. We all know that a lighter more aerodynamic car will take less power to run the same as a heavier car with less aero and more power. I dont know why these debates get so heated?? Sorry GT500 guys, your car will need like 150 more hp to keep up with the Z. Shit happens.

You sir would be wrong about the 150hp figure.

And I don't understand why they put such little tires on the gt500s. My front tires are as wide or wider than their rears.

You cant really go a huge amount wider without having to modify. I have 305s on mine but i believe they are a small 305. I have heard 315s woukd require some grinding.
