C8, base model, no options, yank the trunk liner (trunk shown in Jay Leno's video) and there seems to be plenty of space for twins! A shop built/installed turbo kit and you would likely still be under the cost of a GT500. So yeah, I would go the vette route.

...

Also look at the people mocking it, people with high brow Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche offerings with subtle slams against it I see regularly now on Instagram. That basically shows that at the core of it they are bit ticked corevette just stepped into their market segment and once the GS and C8Z drop they are going to feel it more so.

...

The only thing that could sway me to GT500 would be use of a back seat but heck for the price of one I’d just go scoop up a lightly used 991 turbo

Old Gallardos can pretty much go straight to the crushers now. The C8 Z cars will fly in the face of just about all the super cars on the market.

About that used 991 Turbo, though... Good luck finding a lightly used one for anywhere near what the GT500 will cost.

After ADM on the GT500 upper tiers that gets you around 120k at that price point a swing of 10-15k is nothing and the 991 can be found for 120-140. People rave about the 991 turbo and how great of an all around car it is, also how well it responds to mods.

Not saying the GT500 will be a slouch but it’s placed in a bracket with some heavy hitters thanks to large ADMs.

I agree the C8Z will likely be a dream crusher for many and I really look forward to seeing it. I really would like to swing for one but we’ll see. I have a hard time justifying buying that pricy a car that’ll mostly sit in the garage. I’m thinking C8 GS will be happy medium. Heck if there aren’t significant changes to the body and suspension a lower level C8 would be super wallet friendly.

not at my post...
LOL
Definitely brother. Not feeling that control strip either on the center console. I think it's "ackward" to say the least.
I hope all is well man. Good to hear from you.

That center console strip should be familiar to the baby boomers, it looks like an pill organizer.

That strip of buttons does make me wanna barf. Lol
Looks to me like if you can reach the buttons towards the front then it would be awkward trying to bend your arm back to get to the back buttons with your right arm. Definitely could have come up with a better layout.

This is GM first production mid engine Corvette, i know its not their first attempt....
So maybe ill wait for the C9 to come out and then decide. LOL

Really though, i may have too high of an expectation. I mean the lowest model is already going to be 35xxlbs or more. This means the c8z and next zr1 well only be heavier. The goal should be to reduce weight. Sadly this car gained 100+lbs over the c7 stingray.

The gt500 makes 760hp at $74k.

The c8 makes 495hp at $60k.

While I personally find the c8 the better overall car for what I would want to do (fun weekend corner carver, quick stoplight drag, cool overall, usable as a compromised daily), I will go to bat for Ford that $74k for 760hp with a dct et al is very impressive as well.

The gt350 has 526hp for $60k. That’s 31hp more than the vette.

The bullitt has 480hp for $48k. That’s 15hp less but also $12k less.

The demon has 840hp for $84k.

The honest truth is that $/hp, the domestics are ****ING the competition very hard.

Euro hp is basically twice the price of American hp.

350hp Audi $60k+
440hp bmw $60k+
500hp amg $80k+
600hp amg $170k+
700hp mclaren $275k+
800hp Ferrari $300k+
900hp Ferrari/Mclaren $1m+

Again l like the c8 a **** ton. But compare the new gt500 to a Ferrari 812 superfast

2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast First Drive | Review | Car and Driver

760hp vs 789hp.
4200lbs vs 3950lbs
S charge vs na
Both fr layout
4seat vs 2seat

Considering a ****ing $375k Ferrari is barely 250lbs lighter na vs the gt500, it means ford techs are getting well within 5% of the vehicle weight of an NA 2 seat Italian hyper car making 800hp for $375k if you just take the blower off the gt500. Obviously ford did a blown motor vs a huge NA 7.0L to keep cost down. It would be maybe 100lbs lighter but also less torque and $10k pricier with a bestoke 750hp 7.0L Dohc.

The 2020 gt500 probably weighs 4100lbs without the supercharger, cooling et al.

Compare a gt350r to the Ferrari. Yes the Ferrari is making 789hp from 6.5L (121hp per liter) vs the fords 526hp from 5.2L (101hp/liter) but one costs $67,500 and weighs 3650lbs. The other costs $375k and weighs 3950lbs. 300lbs heavier it’s its almost 6 times the price.

I will go to bat for Ford GT500, they are within 7% of the Ferrari 812 for 1/5th the price. Quarter mile looks to go to the gt500 all things told too.

Another thing, what if the gt500 ends up tipping the scales at 4133lbs or 4150lbs? Everybody has already braced for plus 4000lbs...

What if it’s 4065lbs? 4028lbs? We just all assume it’s ~4200lbs.

It's a nice time to have all these choices, so I don't think we consumers lose either way. The biggest thing that keeps turning me away from Ford is having to deal with Ford dealers. I simply do not run into the same nonsense from Chevy. Your mileage may vary, as they say.

I can't wait for the Z06. :)

I personally want one of each. I would like a GT500 CF package, with the stripes. A C8 Vette, and of course a Hellcat Redeye. Let's add a Demon to that list.

While I'm at it; who has a Dodge Ram SRT10 they want to part with? I want that truck in a bad way.
