As mentioned above it depends.

There is an all Ford's car show just inside NM on April 13th. It's being held at a casino. It's technically right next to El Paso (i.e. considered El Paso), but on the other side of town from me.

I plan on trailering my 65 out there if the weather is nice that day. However, I will be driving my 65 off the trailer and into the show.

My 65 is perfectly capable of being driven out there from my home. And although some might make fun of me for trailering my car out there, I will not risk an accident. The morning traffic is expected to be light. However, on the way home, in the afternoon, all the retards will be out.

I do it too (even local over an hour away). My main reason is after dark, I drive an hour home. It takes huge amounts of time to debug the front of my cars (especially grill areas). If I trailer, might be one or two bugs on windshield on show car. Don't care that much about bugs on truck.

I generally only attend one a year. The friday before Labor Day is a large all day/evening cruise in around the town square and surrounding streets. Usually several hundred cars.

I’ll take a cooler of beer, get up there around 7 or so in the morning and talk with my old neighbor who has an original second owner (his dad) 428 Eliminator. Park around 10. Just drink some beer and meet new people and such.

Usually leave around 8 or 9 before the crowds get too roudy.

Easily one of my favorite days of the year.

I hold my hands behind my back or in my pockets when checking out other cars. That's my way of signaling to the owner that I'm not anyone to be worried about.

I haven't had any issues that I can recall. Mostly get late teens into early 20s coming up with their phones out. Had two kids last year literally jog over after I parked the Cobra. They had what looked like a nice camera (I know nothing about cameras) and I overheard them say something like "I think that's a Terminator" as they went by me. That made me feel special. lol I was shocked kids that age knew what it was or even gave a damn. Even a Hellcat leaving the show stopped in front of my car and checked her out.

I don't want anyone touching my beaters, but if they farted next to the Vette, I wouldn't care so much. She's far from perfect so a greasy booger isn't going to hurt it. The Cobra would be a different story.

All day shows...ugh. I'm with you guys; unless it's a monster show, I can only walk passed the same cars so many times. We do an annual show at work and I stay the whole time mostly because I'm one of 3 managers and I think it'd look bad if I shagged ass early without helping out.

I've had people come up and ask if they can take pics at the gas station or if they catch me getting out of it when I'm going to the store or something. I did mess with a lady one time when she asked if she could take a pic and I said no. She honestly looked sad. Then I started laughing and said of course. We were at a cars and coffee after all.

For the most part the car show is secondary for me. I enjoy seeing cars and anwering questions about my car. But mostly I pay for the parking spot and I spend the day with my friends. There's a big show I go to every April and that's when I catch up with a lot of people I know online. I think last year I made it all of 3 rows from my car because I kept running into people and talking for 20+ minutes.

I miss doing car and truck shows. I was much younger then. Fast forward 30 years and I can't MF stand being out in public at big places and crowded events. Now, add extreme social anxiety. It's like 80s Bruce Banner shit. I'll flip out on people. What was that guy's name in the movie "Falling Down?" I can relate lol

I do rather enjoy "cruise-ins" type events. They tend to be older folk and it's way mellow. Like a Sonic and all the old people bring out classics and park and hang out like it's the 50s. That's my crowd.

I'd like to think I'm respectful around other people's cars with regard to absolutely not touching anything ever, especially anything that's painted, since that's a huge pet peeve of mine as well. That said, I don't park anything I own at a car show or go to parking lot meets...would rather not deal with the hassle of most people generally not caring about other people's stuff.

They spray right off with the right ceramic coating. No worries. Living by a bunch of swamps and rivers, bugs are always on all my old and new cars. Pics above are from a single drive at night.

This has always been my way of doing it as well.

Went to c&c a few weeks ago for the first time. Packed out with American v8. Nothing to worry about there. The people, and younger kids, were all respectful from what I saw and we had a good time.

Another point of etiquette- not verbalizing too loudly disapproval of someone's car or modifications. You never know who/where the owner is who took the time to bring their car out for YOU and others to enjoy.

Citrol on a microfiber will pull the stickiest bugs off the front of your car with ease and speed. Just be sure to wear gloves and remove the residue with detailer spray or go forward with a full wash after using it.

Back in the period 1994 - 2005, I regularly did car shows. I remember having a lot of fun at Super Chevy Shows (best one was at New England Dragway) and multiple all day Mustang shows. I was always paranoid about people getting too close to my cars (with swinging pocketbooks and shoulder bags, long key chains, young kids rubbing up against the cars, people slobbering their foods while ogling the cars, etc. I (and most other car owners) would bring chairs and try to spend as much time as possible sitting by our cars. I found that spectators were generally better around the cars with owners sitting nearby vs. cars with nobody around. When I did bring one of my cars to a car show, I always had my "cleaning kit" with microfiber towels, glass cleaner, rubber tire glaze, spray water bottle, and detailer spray. Too often I'd find fingerprints had mysteriously jumped onto my paint and I'd have to whisk them away.

Since then, I don't think I've gone to any all day car shows. I, too, now get bored rather quickly, so going to the occasional local car cruise satisfies my gear head lust. Actually, car shows around here (the all day ones) are kind of rare now. It's isn't, in general, close to being what it used to be back in those 1994-2005 days.

I haven't been to a "winga-dinga" type car show in many many years. I generally only do Carlisle and one C&C event anymore, Caffeine & Carburetors in New Canaan CT. Our local C&C has sucked for years, I haven't attended since 2019. At the things I attend I haven't had any issues with spectators.

If I'm at a car show (rarely), it's as a spectator and I absolutely remind my kids to look with their eyes and maintain distance.

I'm hearing that C&C meets are instituting restrictions to prevent domestics like Mustangs, Challengers, Chargers, etc. from attending. Saw it as a headline somewhere and a friend mentioned it was true for Houston. I guess it's a result of these cars being affiliated with disruptive behavior, a la street takeovers.

Makes sense, but sucks for the good guys.

That was only the Houston show because people kept doing burnouts in those cars. Our local C&C had that problem years ago, after a kid almost put a 2002 T-bird up on the curb trying to do a powerslide leaving the lot, they got local police on site who will chase anyone down who tries to act like a peckerhead. Even with the police sitting there you'll still get a few idiots who rip out of the lot.

Another point of etiquette- not verbalizing too loudly disapproval of someone's car or modifications. You never know who/where the owner is who took the time to bring their car out for YOU and others to enjoy.

That can be true to an extent, but when you have "builds" such as these taking up spots in the main lot of C&C, well, I've got no problem being a verbal asshole about it

I don't bring any of my cars to car shows. I get crap from people for never doing it. I have trust issues and I guess I don't need to show them off (except on svtp!) because they are for my pleasure no one else.

I have etiquette. I go to big shows occasionally but I don't enter them. I've found more enjoyment of going to small shows or cruise-ins/Cars and coffee.

Years ago, found a guy leaning on my quarter panel at a show. Still can't believe people come to a show and treat other's property as their own.

The engine revving and such at C&C is annoying as crap and gets on my nerves. And for the love of Pete, can S550 guys not find a decent sounding exhaust? Nothing worse than a Coyote with xpipe and no mufflers bouncing off the rev limiter.

I put my 1996 Bronco in many of the shows in the local area. I also take my boys (13 & 15) to the shows, and have taught them to be respectful and not touch any cars. Many of the older guys at the shows have commented on how it's nice to see young kids at the shows, they worry that the hobby is dying and like to see young folks involved.

I felt like a dick a few years ago. I had parked my car in a spot, walked around back and grabbed something from my trunk. My dad walked up and said something about the car next to mine. I originally thought it was a Boss, but was just a GT.

Well, that is what came out of my mouth, “oh, it’s just a GT.”

Well the owner who was seated behind it didn’t seem too pleased with that comment. I felt like such a douchebag for having parked my Shelby next to it and calling it “just a GT” when that wasn’t my intended tone.
