Bought a comp orange SVT Focus last weekend. It has an exhaust rattle. Took it to local shop today thinking it was a heat shield rattle but it is actually shards of metal or something rattling around inside the converter. So looking for options here. I don't want my check engine light on and don't want to put an OEM on there because they are obviously junk. Does anyone have any recommendations on aftermarket options. I read that hollowing out a converter would cause the o2 sensor to not work properly. Thanks for the help guys.

I've never heard of an SVT cat rattling internally, I have personally cut one open with the intention of gutting it and after that I can't imagine any scenario that would cause the cat matrix to rattle as it's a steel mesh that's nearly indestructible.
I'd put a couple band clamps around the heat shields to be sure it's not them, also check the cat brackets behind the engine as they're prone to breaking and rattling/buzzing.
