OK, my cobra isn't a daily driver it sits in the garage more than it gets run. So my question is how often should I change the oil if I am running full synthetic. I know they say 3000 or 3 months but that seems ridiculous if I don't drive it for 6 months sometimes. So what do you guys do that don't run it that much.

Its usually every 3,000 miles or every 6 month and whichever comes first. If the car sits for extended periods of time I would change it before you fire it up for the first time.

What bad things happen to it sitting in the pan? maybe some fuel vapor and contamination? I'm in the same boat mine is not the daily driver and garaged a lot!

Same here once a year. This year I did try redline 5w20 and I was thinking of just changing the filter an adding a qt when the time comes up. At $12 a qt it would be nice to see it last longer.

Exactly, I thought oil goes bad alot faster during heat cycles. Hmm whos to say the oil on the shelfs are any good, wonder how long some have been sitting? I change mine once a year, unless I blow a frps, lol.

In the spring before I drive it for the first time after being stored. I only put about 2000-3000 miles a year though.

I just bought mine and it's been sitting since I got it in October. Right before I take her out in the spring I will change it. I will daily it this summer so every 3000 miles. Once I put it away the oil will stay and I'll change it after winter so the oil is fresh when I take it out again. With full synthetic they say you could go up to 5000 miles but cars like these that take a beating it's worth doing it every 3000.

^ Was the motor brand new or new to the car? I know when breaking in a new motor you should change the oil more than once before 3000 miles.
