Broke my clutch cable yesterday. The clutch area is loaded with black soot. New sleeve and tob on twin disk when installed. No chirping.
The pedal is getting stiff. Is there a way to clean up some of this area and get some of the pedal to ease up. The redneck part of me wants to stick a power sprayer up in there and blast it out; I know that would create some problems.
Can I clean the linkage area with cab cleaner?Grease any areas?
Any suggestions?
I Don't think I am able to drop trans in driveway!

To answer your cable cleaning question. Get one of these.

[ame=http://www.amazon.com/Hp-Tools-Cable-Luber-Red/dp/B002FDKTEM]Amazon.com: Hp Tools Cable Luber Red: Automotive[/ame]

I have one that is 33 years old and still works just fine. I use WD-40 as a cleaner, then after it dries I give the cable a shot of actual cable lube.

Any brand will do.
