Kind of a long story but i really want to know what all you would do. I got in a pretty crazy situation today. I was pulling out of my apartment complex this afternoon which is comes out at a four way stop. I am turning right and come to a complete stop as there are two cars to my left who have the right of way. They both go and i am just turning out behind them when a blue echo comes blowing up to the stop sign where the two other vehicles had just left. He is going about 40-45 and slows down for about 1/2 second before he guns it and blows the stop sign. i am already more than half way in the lane he in coming into and i have to serve onto the sidewalk to avoid him from sideswiping me. He misses by maybe a foot (if that) and honks at me. So i pretty pissed so i step on it and in about two seconds im right behind him again. I honk my horn and flip him off. His buddy leans out the passanger window and flips me off and starts throwing shit at my car. About 500 feet down the road there is a stop light and the light is red. I get in the left turn lane and they get in the lane two to my right. The driver leans out the window and starts cursing at me. His buddy (who looks very white trash, not to big) then gets out of the car and run over to mine. I yell at him asking him if they didnt even see the stop sign or if they were just retarted. He respones by telling me to get out the car. I reply thats hes a moron and then he proceeds to start kicking in the door to my passanger side. That just about got me out of the car when in the rear view mirror i see a old beat to hell toyota pickup behind me with three people getting out of it. I decied i should probably stay in the car at this point. They actually trap me in since now there are cars on all sides of me and the light is still red. The pull their car all the way up till it bumps the bakc of my car. The driver of the car behind me (whos not wearing a shirt, also looks pretty white trash, and is carrying something in his hand) and two very heavy set black men come up to the guy kicking my door and say something like "whats up man? what did this f**ker do to you and then also proceeds to try to talk me out of the car. He decides instead of kicking he will just hit my car with his bare hand, and this is where i notice whats he is actually holding is about a 6 inch knife. The black guys are almost to my window now but lucky for me the light turns green and i hit the gas, breaking the tires loose, bringing the read end out just enough to push the two guys on my passenger side to there ass. I drive off and the guy throws his knife at my car leaving a rather good sized mark across my trunk. Now my question is what would you do? I would have kinda liked to get out of the car and show the first guy and the driver what happens to people who dare take a swing, god forbid a kick, at an innocent cobra. But as soon as i saw the others i think i made they right decision in staying in the car. Sure i could have got out and tried to do what i could but odds are i would have just ended up beat to hell or worse(especially after seeing what was in his hand). And even if i did end up beating the crap out of all them, one- who would believe me , and two- im not sure if i could be charged with anything but its not really worth going to jail over. The cobra sustained minor damages which included three softballs size dents from kicking, two door ding sized from fists, and the mark on the back from the knife. It was pretty intense!

Lots of white trash and violent people around you, are you white trash too? Personally, it is not worth chasing people down and flipping them off. You could have taken a deep breath and counted your lucky stars. Now looK.

Honestly that is why I carry a gun and have a permit for it. I have seen stuff like that happen and not just because someone flipped someone off. You made a "grave" mistake by chasing the guy down. I would have gotten his license plate number and called it in to the local police department. You did the right thing by not getting out of the car and then getting out of there. When it is 2 or more against 1 the odds are not that good that you are going to come out on the good end of the scale. Local point that happened here a couple of years ago and the guy who did it went to prison for a while. Man was filling up with gas at the local 24 hour station right in the middle of town. A couple of guys start fighting near his car. He goes into pay for his gas and as he passes by a guy jumps from another vehicle and proceeds to beat him to death (very close to it) with a pair of brass "nucks." The guy is (if I remember correctly) so brain damaged that he barely survived the whole deal. Just be careful in the future.

YOU DID THE RIGHT THING! Run it through insurance and take it to the BEST BODY SHOP YOU KNOW! Its always worse when you get hurt becuase then you would have been in jail/hospital and still would have been out for medical/lawyer expenses. Back in Highschool a kid kicked my driver door on my Lightning. I should have fought him but i didn't because we would have got kicked out of our school. If the dent is softball size you will have to re-paint FORSURE because it streached the metal. If at all possible do some custom work at the same time and save yourself the expense. Shaved doors? or idk if that would look sikk on a cobra.

that's when you reach down, grab a "big ass" handgun and lay it on the dash.. preferably a revolver, that they can see is loaded.. is it a threat, not really.. since your not pointing it at anyone, but it is a veiled threat that you are armed..

case in point, when I was young we were taking a long drive across the state of Oregon in a Chevette when some individuals in a older pickup decided to try and run us off the road.. when they saw my dad put a Ruger Security 6 on the dash (357 Magnum Revolver) they quickly backed off and turned around..

The best thing you could've done is to take their plate numbers and call the cops.

But in the heat of the moment, I could see why you wanted to chase them.

I've gotten used to all the stop sign and red light runners around here. You just have to be extra careful and anticipate the fact that they will probably run the stop sign (especially if they are on the phone).

And how can a felon have a firearm?

If you haven't been found guilty then you're not a felon

Actually, im right down town, very little white trash. They were really out of place. I didnt think about getting the licence plate number until i got to the lights and at that point it was out of view unless i got out of the car. I know chasing him down could have definetly added fuel to the fire, but it was a heat of the moment thing. And after i drove off, i didnt call the cops cause i didnt know what i would say. "Theres a blue echo and white pickup with some guys in there early 20's who just beat my car?" So insurance will cover something like that? I like the idea of going ahead and putting some extras on at the same time and getting it all done at once.

You guys aren't thinking big enough. No lie, yesterday on my way to the MACA gtg I saw a guy in a green escort station wagon going down US Rt 301 with a sidewinder missle strapped to the roof. It was the craziest thing I've ever seen on the hwy.

As for what you should have done...you should have called the cops. Having a CCW is great, but for all you know, one or more of those guys could have also been armed. I admit that I have chased people in the past, but I try to remember that what happened to you is in the relm of possibility, and I don't do it very often anymore. Chances are if the guy was enough of a dick to run a stop sign then get angry at you for being in his way, he's not an honest citizen to begin with (ie, likely a criminal).

You can probably still file a report, and honestly, if I were you, I would. For all you know those yahoo's did something worse earlier or later in the day and the police could use the information you provide.

Carring guns does not solve anything these days. i don't blame you for being pi$$ed off at those jerks. i might have done the same thing, chased them and flipped them off as well. Chalk it up to some rage and get it fixed. The next time the jerk that gets out of the car might be carring more than a knife.

Once I saw a hit and run accident happen right in front of me. I was a stop light; The car that hit the jeep kept going. I blew through the red light from a dead stop and gave chase. I followed this car all through town at insane speeds.... all the way to the end of town - on the back roads. Suddenly the car stops and four guys get out. Um, no thanks. I backed up a safe distance and then got back in. I followed them again, and again they stopped. This time a car came up behind me. This was before cell phones were common; They had a cell phone with them and called the cops.

The cops were there in thirty seconds - they were looking for them. Turns out they were all here ilegally, and the car was stolen.

Go figure.

Damn, that was a hell of a story. I do not know what to say but I definitely could see myself getting into that kind of situation. Did you get any plate numbers or anything? I know it sounds pathetic but if you ever see either vehicle again stealthfully follow it, wait for the drivers to park and leave, and then DESTROY IT.

You should've let the whole stop sign blowing thing go, but I'm not going to go there. You did the right thing considering how many people there were, and how many were armed. Chasing down crazies like that is almost never worth it.
