[How-to] Depo Projector headlights Installed (Pics, Pics and more Pics)!!

!! Attention!! This is not a thread to advertise your for sale retrofit headlights, Take it to the classifieds. Also, we know that a true retofit with hid projectors will out perform this setup. Please refrain from stating the obvious over and over. This thread is to talk about the depo's.

Ok, story. I needed new headlights upon returning from korea after a year and finding mine had begun to fade and flake.

The Wife Under my direction got me the depo projectors for xmas. I already had the DDM tuning 35 watt hid kit Installed in my Eagle Eye aftermarket headlights.

The depo's were packaged very well and came with stock style Phillips bulbs.

BULBS ARE 9006 FOR LOW BEAM AND 9005 FOR HIGH BEAMS.

YOU'LL NEED ONE 9006 HID KIT. You do not have to run hids in the high beams. It's overkill and doesn't work well with flashing your lights.

Here you can see the cut off shield, it is flat unlike hid projectors which are curved toward lense, which im guessing leads to the downward curve on the outside of the beam.

Installing with hids is a breeze, instead of plugging in the 9006 bulbs, just plug in the hid ballast, its the same plug.

Previous light output with stock style headlights ( Looks low because my driveway is kinda down hill)

Cut off with the Depo projectors, no glare above cutoff and a nice multicolor cutoff line. After these pics I adjusted the lights a bit and widened the beam a tad. Even better. Its really hard to take accurate pics of light.

Over all Im very impressed with them. Paid about $110 on amazon for the depo's and about $20 for new 9006 5000k hid bulbs. So for the price. Im very happy.

They actually look nice. I never liked the look of projectors on an sn95 mustang but the design of the housing and projector look pretty good. The good design and the obvious reason of better output have sold me.

I'm the opposite, I like having the separate high beam for flashing etc.

Don't get me wrong, im happy with Mine and they have held up great after 2 years, I just didn't have the money to do it the first time around. Now that I have another one and typically what I do to one the other gets, i'm going to do a retrofit. Needless to say, im spending a lot more this year on the cars than I did the last 2.. You will be very happy with the setup. I also hate that I didn't go with the right color temp. I will never go with 8000k again. Only 4300k from now on for me.

Another thing you Might want to look into, the envoy fog light mod. I think it makes the front look much better and it's fairly ready to do. I posted pics inn the what did you do today that if you want to see them..

Not a huge fan of the envoy fogs, a tad to big for me. Mine are actually aftermarket 01 dog Dakota fogs with yellow bulbs. They are nice and perform great.

Thanks man. That pic was after sitting under a cover for a year. She got a full detail today. Smooth as glass. Original paint, so it's not perfect, but awesome for the age. I also have a s281 wing getting painted right now. Can't wait..

Did you just plug in your 9007 HID bulbs into the DEPO housing?

It come with another harness, you use the drivers side plug and attach it to the battery then run it over to the passenger side. It uses relays and the lights draw power from the battery

+1 to the car wash for using a Mustang (and a GT at that) for their demonstration car!

And oh, nice car and headlights too!

No problem, That's why I posted. I've been looking at these for three years now and finally got up the courage to go for it. None of the other threads and post were enough for me. Figured there were others in the same boat. I actually expected the cut off line to be lame and out put to be so so, I've been pleasantly surprised. Also im thinking the projector bowl or whatever you call it is metal, so I wonder how a 50 watt kit would do.

Guess I need some head on type night shots. I'll work on that.

I have the 55 watt ballasts in mine. Those look much better than mine do. I wonder if they have improved over the years!
