"Plow through" is exactly what it will do weighing 2 tons. It will beat plenty of cars in a straight line and plow through them. It won't beat many handling/braking..so it won't be "running circles around" them.
I cannot believe the amount of anti-GT500 people on this forum. This is a Shelby GT500 forum, not a pussy Viper, Corvette, Bmw, or Gto forum. Everytime I say something positive about the Shelby some freak responds with Shelby demeaning remarks. :bash: I heard long ago while the car was still be tested that it was putting down 550-575rwhp and had to be de-tuned. It's very doubtful that the stock GT500 engine will make 550-575 rwhp regardless of the tune (that's about 630 fwhp). The GT500 engine is basically a larger version of the Cobra engine. My understanding is a box stock 4.6 Cobra engine with an agressive tune will make about 40 more hp which puts it at about 400-420 rwhp. Where is that 150-175 hp comming from?
Making a claims that a GT500 will "plow through" a 06 Z06 is pure fantacy. The GT has a boatload more pork on the chassis, the aerodynamics of a brick and probably less hp. The GT is going to be a fun car but not that fun.

Hey broeli, I called Ford performance(formely SVT) and asked the rep if tungsten with black stripes is available and he said yes, so take that to the bank Mr anti-shelby. He said the coupe is going for 40k, not 45k.. I don't mind paying 40k if it is producing 520rwhp stock, that's why I'm not gonna do what most rich freaks will and get ripped off at the dealer when they first appear. I'm gonna wait a little while till the price subsides and see if the owners have any major complaints about the car.broeli said:Two things:

If there is major complaints about the car and it's not producing the desired numbers, then I just might wait and see what other specialty mustangs SVT has or I just might buy an 08 Dodge challenger with 500hp for 35k.
