a drag race at any possible stoplight? I rarely rarely ever drag race with my new 5.0, but every time I go to the pump I say, should I put the premo shit in just in case. Then I laugh and get 87 because that's all I need and I'm still paying $3.29 here in suburbs of Chicago.

I think most on this site will put 93 octane or highest available as first nature. The fact that you are running 87 is the minority.

93 only. I knew the cost of fuel when I bought it and for 20 cents more a gallon where I live, that is not much between regular and premium.

i read useing regular costs you about 10 to 15 hp

^ This:

You give up HP/TQ you paid for by running on non-premium fuel in the 2011 GTs.

Regular Fuel: 402 @ 6.500, Premium Fuel: 412 @ 6,500
Regular Fuel: 377@4250, Premium Fuel: 390 @ 4,250

Hmm

You only give up pwr if the car picks up detonation and retards the timing. I always run 93 in my car just to be safe. But if I was going to drive up to PA from FL I would just put the wezzle piss in the car. But then again how much would I really be saving?

20 cents per tank is going to cost you on avg. $3.50 more per fill up. Not a lot in the scheme of things.

I hear using 93 produces more power which is more efficient which results in better fuel economy to make up for that $3-4 extra bucks? Plus you have all the power when you want it.

I would say run 91 octane or higher all the time. Unless you have to run 87 octane

If I could I would run 91, as that is what the engine is idealy tuned for. Locally I can only run 87, 89, and 93, so I run 93 and take a small horsepower loss.

Im not sure what takes away more power, 2 octane points too high, or the power lost from the ECU compensating for 2 octane points too low.
