I am currently running Hoosier 335/35R17's on Replica 10.5in. wheels. I am wanting to back to the factory 17X9in. wheel to shed some rotational mass and use a 275/40R17 drag radial. I can't decide on which radial to use: Mickey Thompson, Hoosier, or the new Nitto NT05R. I was wondering if any of you had any experience with these tires and what your opinions were. 60' times and at what power level will help me determine what will be best for my application.

The car is mostly used for track purposes at this time. Hopefully next year it will see some street use but even then it will be minimal. Only for the track and on nice weekends.

I guess my next question is would there be much of a difference between a 315 and a 275?

Going to have about the same footprint on the ground with either tire on a 9" wheel. I would go with the 275 hooiser tire

I cant say enough about the 275/40/17 MT's........I ran 10.40@134 on them with a 1.64 60ft. I ran 17x9 stock rims, IRS 6spd, and ran some 245/45/17's up front. I broke a halfshaft with them after getting greedy, so I went back to Bias Ply.

Here is what I was able to do

I have actually thought of trying the 295/55/15 DR on my slick/skinny combo next year.

On a sidenote, after having my car on slicks skinnies all summer, and driving it on street/track. I put it back on stock rims, and 315 Nitto DR's, and I forgot how much fun this car was driving with stock rims, and how it actually feels like a car again hahah

i just put a set of nitto drag radials on my 2001 SS today for street use only. size 275/40 on the stock 17X9 SS wheels. i run mickeys on 15X10 Weld wheels at the track.

on the street i run nitto drag radials on my Lightning too. i find them to be the perfect drag radial for the street as BFG's don't stick well and the others wear out to fast. i run the NT555R's......

+1
M&H Racemaster DRs. Just pulled a 1.53 with a 4,000 pound car on M&H 325/50/15 on Bogarts. They're a drag tire that you can just so happen to drive to the track. Stick like my ex did to my bank account.

I was wondering the same thing. I have stock Mach wheels and they are only 17x8 :( How bad does a 275/40 bulge?
