Hey Folks.
I have a 2011 GT500 SVTPP and I recently added the VMP TVS 2.3 750HP kit with JLT and 65mm TB.

Awesome as this new power is, I quickly realized the Eagle F1 G2 tires on there now cant even come close to handling it!

I cannot get past 65% throttle in second gear without the rear end breaking lose quickly.

Anyway I started looking at a bunch of forums and keep seeing folks mention Micky Thompson DR, Nitto 305's etc.

I am using the SVT wheels right now, rears at 20x10.
From experience what have any of you found to hook up best with this setup?
wider wheel with 305's?

I appreciate any and all info! thanks guys.

thanks. You are correct.
So it appears I will need to be buying new wheels along with the tires?
The Nitto 305's say 10-12" wheels.

Switched to 315 Nitto NT05's on 20x11.75 Alcoas and it was a huge difference. Street use only.

alright, it seems the Nitto's will be my first try.

unless there are other options?

perhaps I can find a sweet deal on new 11" wheels and get a bigger tire as well.
Thanks guys.

315/35-20 NT05R's....click the vid in my signature to see them in action. Stock rims..= slighy bulge...on my new wheels zero bulge...I will not use another tire besides these on my car in the rear for street use....they perform at the track as well with just a drop of tire pressure. (15.5psi)

I have the 305/35-20 555r's on my SVTPP 20x9.5" wheels. On my second set. My first set lasted about 8000 miles, but had about 12-14 burnouts at the dragstrip.. so extra wear. As far as street use/daily driving, you will not find a better tire than the 555 imo. The dry performance is great in warm weather.. I am at 635rwhp sae, and I can stomp it in 2nd gear @ 40mph and get zero wheelspin. 1st gear to hard shift into 2nd, they will spin though.

They are not a good tire for the dragstrip or launching though. Not enough sidewall to get a good flex on launch.

Rain performance is no different than regular street tires. I daily drive my car and love them.

Here are some pics on my SVTPP wheels:

This pic gives you an idea of the width from a distance:

Here is a video I made just trying to demonstrate how well they work in the rain.. you will have to overlook my redneck accent.

I just went with the Nitto NT05R drag tires. a I love them and they fit awesome. I have a 20x10.5 wheel but they shoud fix fine on your 20x10 wheel. The size I purchased from discount tire is 315/35/20.

You will love them.. especially in this warm weather... they will hook. May spin 1st though. I run mine at 30psi on the street.
