Just curious, my motor is a BG 397 BA. Is that the typical number for a 14 GT?

Sorry about your luck but its a factory LS swap. You have a 4.8 out of a 2007 Chevy Express 2500.

Oh that's great. But on a serious note I'd like to know if it's the typical code for this year.

Under the coil cover. I can't remember if it is driver or passenger side at the moment.

Early Gen 1 engines will be BG 397 AA and later engines will be CG 397 AA and DG 397 BA

I don't know about the Gen 2 engines, I could look under my coil cover later.
