Hopefully I dont get lit up too bad for this one, but who all on here is on EOD? I just got back from LDAC where I talked to the ORD/ENG corps and one of the recruitment officers were tellin me that they are in need of 2Lt's for EOD and I've been interested for a while. Im tryin to learn more about it to see if it would be a good fit for me. Tell me what you like/dislike about it.

EOD guys are the shit, as a Sapper we worked with them on an almost daily basis. Those guys have no fear, at least the teams i was working with had none. I know they were offering huge bonuses a few years ago, not too sure now. If i went back in and re-classed it would be to EOD. Usually they would roll out in 2-3 man teams in a Cougar attached to an Engineer/Infantry unit. Its nice because they actually get to do their job, a lot of MOS's get stuck doing other shit, but not EOD. You do EOD lol

Once I ship off to basic I'll be going to Eglin for the EOD tech school.
Right now they offer a 20k bonus in the AF. Trick is you have to actually complete the tech school to get your bonus. lol

Wish I could give you hands on info but it'll be a 1 yr plus before I get the crab. I've been researching eod for about 6 months now so if you have any specific questions regarding training I might be able to help a little.

i say if it is something you really want to do then do it~! remember there is no such thing as a bad EOD tech~!! good luck and think about how rewarding an EOD techs job is, how valuable it is to fellow service members and that there is a tangable result after a hard days work....ALL THE BEST TO YOU~! The EOD guys I have met out here are top shelf. I would disagree that they know no fear however. It is more they control their fear so it doesn't interfear with getting the job done. Not sure i would want to be around an EOD tech that didn't have a bit of fear in him for the job he does.

EOD was one of the things I was looking at when I was trying to get in.

I dont know what my role would be as an Lt. or if the recruitment officer was blowin smoke but I think its something I'd be satisfied with. I want to make a decision in the next cupla months since I drop my asessions packet soon to determine my branch/duty station. Thanks for the input

I think it would be safe to say you would play a big part in the coordination, tracking, and updates to your commander located inside the command post.

HOWEVER, that is not set in stone, but if I had to make an educated guess I would lean that way.

Usually, the QRF escorts them out to the sight.

It is a very demanding school from what I have been told, good luck with whatever decision u come to.

And ALWAYS ALWAYS get a second opinion to whatever a recruiter :burn: tells you. Seems to be a lot of helpful folks here, so always double check
